I`ve been trying to get Primo to run on a Sony now for months and months!
The problem for me and a lot of other people is it loads up ok but then is permanently "autodetecting gps reciever.....". So its seems to be the gps receiver that it cant find.
The sys.txt on igo8 and Primo are virtually the same, but sporty21 suggestion of putting a navu.ini file in the Primo7data/config/device folder made sense to me as no sony device is listed. However on checking the igo8 data file there is no sony device listed there either. Yet Igo8 works and Primo doesnt.
I cannot see the reason why igo8 detects satellites straight away and Primo never does. There is obviously something else that needs to be tweaked.
As I said before igo8 works fine, but I just want to work out how to get Primo working. Not because I have to just because I want to! Its a fun challange and would help a lot of other people.

Yes it would be a good thing to figure out how to get Primo working on your device. I would suggest that you back-up Primo somewhere and re-install iGO 8.3 so that it works. Then look at all the elements of the working 8.3 to see what's different in Primo that's getting in the way.

Well, really pleased to say I got Primo working on my Sony yesterday
I've spent many, many hours searching for solutions and trying different ideas and suggestions given by a lot of people. Thanks all.
The solution was to download a file and place it on the sony device along with Primo, this helps it find the gps receiver- which has always been the problem. Peasy, worked straight away!
If any one else wants to try this, I will upload the file and copy the instructions.
Now sall I be brave and try upgrading to 1.2......... :)

I don't know if anyone wants to try, but if you post the link where you got it or upload yourself, it surely will be appreciated.
Success on 1.2!

I think you will need to have "mounted volume" on your device, and inside "mounted volume" you should put the igo and amended sony files- the original Sony file in mounted volume should be renamed. Or if you are keeping the original sony file the nav-u file inside has to be renamed. You will probably then have to add a map and languages to the igo file to make it work. Without "mounted volume" many of the loading paths will not run as they include something like \mounted volume\igo\igo.exe
I found that you have to use xp with active sync, as win 7 and win mobile will not copy all the .exe files.
If you can no longer get your unit to connect to your pc, you will have to play around a bit, i.e. connect and re set device, start device then connect to pc etc.

Back up all your files.
This worked for me
[Please Register or Login to download file] Download and unrar the above file.
Link sony to computer using active sync and win xp.
Rename "sony" file in mounted volume on your device to anything you want.
Copy Primo folder into mounted volume on your device
Inside the downloaded gps platform folder are 2 files you need. I is the "menu" and the other "sony"
Copy both these files into mounted volume.
You should have 4 files now in the mounted volume- Primo, menu, sony and 'renamed sony'. ( You man need to unhide folders by going to tools>folder options>view and checking 'show hidden folders; in order to see the sony files)
In the nav-u mscr file for the sony 93 the figures you need are 18 and 15. Most other models i believe are 19 and 17.
The 93 is 480X272 if your screen is different you need to chang sys.txt
This should be the only things you may need to edit
You will need to put your own maps in.
Reset device and try!
As i said at begining this worked for me, but make sure you back up your device in case you need to go back

On NVU 93 TC work OK . In my country TMC dont work , have you tested TMC with this Primo?
Tue May 31, 2011 8:55 pm
I haven´t tried the TMC, mainly because I know its difficult to get it working. One of the problems is getting Primo to recognize the TMC receiver on the Sony. You could try googling or seachin here for "Tmc Gns driver", which i think acts as an interface between the two.

Hello all,
I have a Sony NAV-U 92 TC. I tried to install Igo8 on it but no luck. I copied the files for Igo in the \Mounted Volume folder, copied the updated maps, kept the folder structure as required, renamed the nav-u.exe file from the \Sony directory to nav-u2.exe. The only problem was that I did not find any nav-u.mscr file. Can anyone tell me in what folder I can find this file?
