If you look in the sony> navu folder there should be 2 navu-u files. If you look to the right of these one should say 'application' the other 'mscr'. mscr can be opened with notebook.

@joney If you are using my instructions from previous post you need to rename the whole of the sony folder, as a new sony file is included in my download, to see this file you need to have 'show hidden file and folders' checked in tools>folder options>view

I have no idea if those programmes will work on your device but it can't hurt to have a go, Just edit the path i highlighted in bold to point to the exe file of the new app, Be aware you will need to configure the app to find the GPS hardware.

Thank you all for the help, especially Mircea. Mircea's files work just fine.
I used Igo v8.3.2 + maps, Microsoft ActiveSync v4.2 for browsing the device + Windows XP SP3.
I backed up the old files, just in case, and overwritten the nav-u folder with the files from Mircea.
In the Mounted Volume I added the Igo8 folder with the maps and languages I needed.
After a reset Igo8 started up nicely.
