No Sound - Igo Primo 2.4 on Windows CE GPS

Postby g_e_l » Mon Jun 03, 2013 9:55 pm

I have a double-din Chinese gps unit in my car. I've recently upgraded to IGO Primo 2.4. Everything works great, except I have no voice commands. I've tried several suggestions I've found online, but nothing works. Here's my sys.txt:

skip_eula=1
experimental_features=1

[interface]
show_exit=1
extra_settings=1

[other]
demo_enabled=0

[route]
hnr_ignored_missing_country_ids=*

[vr]
disabled=0

[general]
DirContent=\SDMMC\Primo\content
DirSave=\SDMMC\Primo\save
ExeName=iGO.exe
Sound=set.wav

[mapchanger]
swpoi=0
swbuilding=0
swhistspeed=0
swphoneme=0

[sound]
csv_voice_enabled=1

Start with the obvious, are the volume sliders turned up within primo? It's not in mute? Is there a volume control in the device menu?

Also is your copy of primo from this site, and was it taken from another device?

Volumes are all turned up, mute is off. Downloaded Primo from this site.

I never saw [general] in sys.txt.

Suggest to remove all the line under [general] and put following instead:

[folders]
app=”/Storage card/Primo”
content=”/Storage card/Primo/Content”
has_secondary_root=0

This means that the all Primo files and maps are in map Primo on the SD-card.

If that is the case you can even leave out the entire [folders] references.
Leaving them is also o.k.

For sound I recommand:
[sound]
csv_voice_enabled=1
ding=0
sound_q_length=200
queue_length=200
mute_os_key=1

and for debug:

[debug]
skip_eula=1
screenshotsavecameraini=0
screenshotfilename="\captures\screen_%02d.jpg"
show_battery_percent=1
experimental_features=1
show_networkservices=0

If you are using English as your language for Primo 2.4 you can try this download http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?12043-iGo-Primo-2.4-9.6.13-Complete-Torrent&p=107368#post107368 If you need to change the language and/or voice to yours, just put the voice into content\voice and language into content\lang. Also you might need to delete your save folder to start over choosing.

EDIT: Since you're from the US [just saw it], I would recommend that you not use Primo 2.4. I would suggest iGO8 or Primo 1.1. They give the best navigation IMHO.

Tried using the sys.txt you recommended. Unit would begin start-up procedure, then permanently stall. Reverted to my sys.txt file so that at least the unit with start and run without sound.

1.You wrote: I upgraded to IGO Primo 2.4.
Question: Upgraded from ?? to Primo 2.4
With ?? in use, was the voice command working correctly?

2.I suggested for [folders]:
[folders]
app=”/Storage card/Primo”
content=”/Storage card/Primo/Content”
has_secondary_root=0

assuming that Primo.exe (or what the name may be) was installed on the SD-card.
Apparantly this is not the case.
Question: Where is sys.txt located? Give full path (e.g. My Flash disk/Primo).

3. Is the used voice file a so called natural voice (so no TTS) file?
Did you try more than one voice file?

If you change or add files, delete or rename the map save.
If you change or add files on the SD-card, soft reset the system.

I dowloaded and tried several different versions of Primo 2.4, copied over the maps, poi, user profile, etc. from my existing system, and found one where the sound/voices work. However, now I get the warning "Application failed to start last time" warning each time I activate the gps. It asks if I want to start with a reset - it doesn't matter if I respond yes or no, it starts and remembers my setting.

I've done an internet search for a solution to the problem, found several suggestions, (change scripting in sys.text, eliminate the Save folder, shut down the unit before turning off the car) but none has resolved the problem. It's an annoyance, but I'll live with it rather than having no sound.

We had a somewhat similar problem that was finally fixed. If you look around post 153, you might find an answer that will give you some idea of how to proceed.

This is the perfect road to disaster. You cannot copy blindly files from one system to the other, because of compatability problems.

1 Start with your original nav. s.w. and make it work. Make a backup from this system.
2. Remove the original nav-sw (or rename the corresponding folder) and place the Primo folder instead. Give the Primo folder exactly the same name as the original folder and give the Primo exe-file exactly the same name as the original exe-file.
3. Remove the original folder content from the Sd-card (make backup first) and put the Primo content file instead and be aware that only the only following igo8 files are compatible with Primo:
-maps/building/poi/dem
-speedcam
-voice (only when
[sound]
csv_voice_enabled=1)

All the other files are not compatible.

Place the correct references to the programme and content in sys.txt (take the original sys.txt as reference)
