No sound problem with Primo 2

Postby pavone » Tue Jan 29, 2013 4:55 pm

I know that there are many versions of Primo 2.0 and 2.4 running on different devices, but chinese 2 DIN WINCE 6 autoradio are different and not all of them are the same. Infact i am not the only one having this problem. On my device Primo 1.1 legal (coming with the autoradio) and Primo 1.1 cracked run perfectly. Primo 1.2, Primo 2.0 and 2.4 are mute this, according to my opinion, because of LUA voice. For example i read somewhere that on some devices with Primo 1.1 and you install Primo 2 with TTS, the old file vautov5.dll is necessary. For the time being i don't need TTS, i just want hear the normal voice if possible.
I think that the solution is not easy, perhaps my device is "locked" with Primo1.1. Sorry for the long post, and let's go on.

There are double din devices that have hardware sound mixers which are controlled by GPS software, navsure being one, although there are others, the GPS software asks the mixer to lower the sound of the cd/radio so an announcement can be made, then the CD/radio output is raised, normally a special version of iGO is used, so when a cracked version is used the sound mixer doesn't receive the signal to lower the current sound and allow the GPS sound through, meaning no sound.

This could be the case here...

Note that a normal voice is just ogg samples in a zip file and doesn't require any dll's.

Someone noted recently that a certain sys.txt entry turned on this feature in iGO 8 for a certain device, so post the original legal primo 1.1 sys.txt here...

You are right, that is my case, infact with Primo 1.1 original or cracked, if radio is on when i click on voice preview the volume of radio is reduced becase GPS has the priority. If you read my post #5 there is the original sys.txt. I just added for test the string csv_voice_enabled=1.

Did you try copying the whole [sound] section to the new primo's sys.txt?

Just use a normal non tts voice for testing.

A thought occurs, devices that have this issue and have a WinCE based mp3 player, can play a "silent" mp3 to allow the sound from primo through.

If this is the case for your device and the silent mp3 workaround works, then you're going to be stuck with primo 1.1, but could be worse, a lot of these device are stuck with iGO 8.0!

delete every thing in sound section in sys.txt and replace them with the following:

[sound]
std_muting_device_needed=1
app_message_start="NAV_VOICE_GUIDANCE"
app_wparam_start=1
app_message_stop="NAV_VOICE_GUIDANCE"
app_wparam_stop=0
effect_muted=1
use_os_volume=1
csv_voice_enabled=1

I hope this will work

If you take a look at avicc411 forum,under completed mods for F series I am sure forum member Ryar had worked this out and had Primo 2 running with sound.

Did you try playing a mp3 while primo is running?

I tried a Primo.exe from avicc411 forum, but is not working with my device and also there is no voice with
WINCE6 simulator.
I can play mp3 while iGO is running.
The solution could be to unlock my device with MioPocket 4.0 or ceFFM 0.3.5, but since is still under guarantee i do not want to take a risk so have decided to keep my Primo 1.1.
Thanks a lot to all of you.

Miopocket is a risky install, so not installing it is a good choice.

Stopping radio mute?

This is very interesting stuff.

I have a single-din chinese head unit which works fine, currently running Primo 2.0 but it has been fine with various iGO builds.

All of them have the same problem; when the nav program makes a sound, it completely cuts out the radio or whatever else I am listening to. This is very irritating.

Ideally, it would turn the radio down for the duration of the nav sound, but if it didn't and talked over the radio, that would be fine.

But it stops the radio, then half a second later does the announcement, then waits a second and a half before putting the radio sound back on.

I fear that this is a hardware problem, but all these sound commands I've never seen before have given me new hope that I may be able to sort it.

Any suggestions, anyone?

I don't have that sort of device. Mine is a portable GPS. I could be mistaken but isn't that how these devices work? The navigation audio command cuts out the radio when it is making a voice navigation and the radio comes back on when it is finished.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
