Finally I made it work!
All this time it was a path error in sys.txt. I edited the line:
app=%SDCARD%/miomap
into
app="/SD Card/miomap"
Now it finds what it needs and runs iGO8 just fine!

Why the link to he TTS voices, Chas? And is there a Swedish TTS voice? It's not on our site.

It sure is because I put it there days ago. Take a look near the bottom. It has the voice plus the Swedish TTS engine. Also I changed the name of the sticky to TTS voices and components.

You don't mind I made some minor changes to the post ? (bolded "Swedish" and put the languages alphabetically)

If I just grab the Swedish files, do I need anything else? I have the Updated Dlls for WinCE4.2. In fact, I may already have those copied onto the SD, so they may already be in use. The other Swedish voice I found (found the link myself but didn't have time to post about it) was a male voice, Christian.

If you already have the Swedish TTS engine plus the CE 4.2 dlls on your device, then you should only need to add Annika's voice to content\voice. Do not unzip the voice.

I grabbed the SWE_TTS_LOQ_Annika_CE5 file. I haven't put anything from it on the SD yet, since it's at my parents'.
