Some skins have settings to skip certain things.
But any time a route is selected or made, some 'thinking' time is required to process it. On my system, after this processing time is done, if I just wait, it will automatically "Go" from the summary screen without having to press anything after a certain time-out. If I am impatient, I just press "Go" immediately.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

This feature can be useful to oversee the route and correct it (by using via point) or the destination when necessary. I think it is necessary, needs little attention (some wariness) and can prevent lots of frustration. just my 2cts.
