up
and
up and up nobody say nothing?

Mon Nov 26, 2012 3:03 am

I can't further the tech part of the discussion but...

If I understand right, rodanny is asking if there's a way to download current traffic events from the Internet (Igo's connected Online Traffic, for example?) and use that for navigating offline. If you think in terms of construction delays rather than accidents, time-shifting traffic information for offline use could be useful. Even accident information could be useful for very short trips.

Isn't that what TMC does at real time?
Or the intention must be about countries where no TMC is available?

Mon Nov 26, 2012 12:38 pm

I don't know rodanny's situation (I'm not even 100% I understand what he wants). You're right nabi, TMC can give real time traffic information but it isn't available in all countries, it isn't free in all countries, and non-PNA TMC receivers are very difficult to find and buy now (outside of Germany & Eastern Europe.) And from the other posts here, TMC doesn't even work for some devices. Real time traffic information is so important you'd think by now there'd be a better way. :unknw_mini:

Off topic:
This thread proves how difficult it can be to fully understand ones intention, especially when there is a language barrier and things get lost in translation. More, the lack of sufficient information makes it difficult to answer adequately.

On topic.
I don't know the adequate answer. :( I have no information about TMC data and how to incorporate them in iGO/Primo.
The only way I can think of is:
1. set up a route on the device
2. search for traffic information on the internet
3. compare the route and the traffic data for resemblances
4. When there is a match:
either block the closed roads in iGO/Primo (I think - not sure - that Primo only blocks temporarily and iGO blocks definitively)
or set up an alternative route (short - quick - green - economical), it may be a better choice (and back to 2)
or re-route manual by using "via" points

I don't know any better. Sorry.

I don't think it stores it in a file, as it's live it probably just stores it in ram.

Tue Nov 27, 2012 10:38 am

ok..
but how could be web page?
What data contain?

Dear Rodanny,

We understand you do not speak English, but I think nobody knows what you are trying to say in your last post.

I also think nobody can give you a satisfying answer. TMC data are live stream data. There is no file in any navigation program (as far as I am aware of) that stores TMC data, except COMport, baud, last frequency. TMC works and traffic data come in live, thus no need to store constant changing data.
No TMC = no data = no data file.

I gave a possible solution in post#10, bottom first page. See if you can do anything with that solution. If not, then I am sorry but I see no answer to your question as far as I understand it.

Tue Nov 27, 2012 3:43 pm

Sorry,
So..i try to write more corretly....

SO...
I find in sys.txt a link to web page....

"servers[0].url="http://zippy.naviextras.com/services/tmclite/data/nng-igo-tmc-ip"
and
boot_service_address="http://zippy.naviextras.com/services/index/1"

What is?
Best,
danny

Tue Nov 27, 2012 3:54 pm

That's where iGO gets it's live traffic information from, I'm guessing it'll in a propriety format.

Tue Nov 27, 2012 4:15 pm

yes...but what is the file structure from http link?

Waht represint booth line?

Those sys.txt entries are used by Primo to get TMC data via the internet. So your device should have internet access in order to get TMC data from the address specified on the [servers.url] and [boot.service.address] entries on sys.txt. If I am not mistaken, you will need a subscription and a license to be able to get this TMC service via internet connection.

How the TMC data is pulled from the internet or in what format, only NNG knows, since that is supposed to be proprietary information.
