Hopefully, someone will be able to help me out.
I have an unbranded chinese 5" device, running Primo 2.
Would I be able to get TMC working by buying a mini USB TMC receiver, such as ones available for TomTom etc.?
I have the UK TMC files in Primo 2.

It has a built in FM transmitter, but wouldn't know about the drivers for a receiver.

You would need the drivers for the particular TMC module...

Unless you can answer yes to both questions then i doubt it will work.
LS9 is an integrated FM TMC (Traffic Message Channel) receiver and antenna. It can receive and decode TMC information efficiently and output data with [color="#FF0000"]LOCOSYS AdvanceTMC Protocol[/color] which is NMEA-like compatible. The receiver also acts as a power bridge between CLA (Cigarette Lighter Adaptor) and PND. From this power bridge, LS9 also takes its needed power supply.
[color="#0000FF"]Combined LS9 with compatible PND[/color] (Personal Navigation Device) can alert the driver of a problem, such as traffic tie-ups, on the planned route and calculate an alternative route avoid the incident. This makes the dynamic route guidance reality.

I have just about every known gpstmc.dll for iGo/Primo, and none of them say anything like "Locosys". Most are AVANTEQ or GNS. All are NMEA compatible, but I don't know what "NMEA-like" means.
Unless somebody here has already tried that device and has some result, I would give it...based on the information given... a 50/50 chance. At best.
Before purchase, I would definitely try to contact the company and ask them directly about compatibility, but with a no-brand Chinese unit, even they are unlikely to confirm anything.
