Next trip, I'll take my other GPS unit with me.. See, I bought a Magellan Roadmate, after I found the Nextar so outdated, and see how that works.

Does the Garmin XT program still run under WinCE5? Maybe I'll give that a go.. Its kinda nice, that the Nextar has a SD card slot. However, it'll only see the old cards.. Nothing above 2GB can be used.

Sorry about the Europe thing. It was my bad. I looked very quickly at an above post and I saw Europe so I just assumed - again sorry. Garmin XT yes. Go to the Garmin section.

After playing with Primo 2.0 for a few weeks, I switched to the iGO (guess thats what its called 8.5).
After putting the maps in the correct place, and playing around with it, I kinda like it better.. Even though it doesn't have TTS. (or at least the voices I have don't have TTS built in)..
It seems to flow a little better on this unit I have. Found the GPS com port, and locked onto the Sats really quick.. I was impressed.

Maps don't have lots of features, but, I'm not really looking for that. Want to go from Point A to Point B the fastest route I can. Most of the time.

I did a small trip today (by small, I mean, 10 miles). And this program took me to the place, using the quickest route, without going back roads.
On the way back, I decided to take a bit longer route, just to see how fast the update driving directions were. Not 2 seconds after I passed my turn, it had already said where the next 'correct' turn would be, and which way to turn. So, with that, I was very surprised.

Hmmm! Which iGO8 program did you use? Can you link us to the program. Because my program DOES most certainly contain TTS.

Go Cruise 8.3.5 is the name of the program, dated May 27, 2011.. (I'm assuming this is iGO)

If you're program does, and we are talking about the same thing, then its a download link here, that Just didn't have TTS...

After finding some TTS voice files, I tired to load them.. I could see them in the menu, but, would never play the voice. If I hit the OK button, and had a TTS selected, it would lock the GPS unit up, and I would have to hard reset it. (lucky for me, my GPS has a switch on the back of it for that).

Are the TTS files origional to the release? If so post your sys.txt (in spoiler). The Q4 supports tts and it should work. I've got a 43lt (same thing) and it will run just about anything.

I also agree on the routing comments IGO8/Amigo/Primo 1.1 route the best in US...

That program you used is not mine. I'm sure it's OK but I never used it so I can't really say. Here's mine that has EVERYTHING http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-5-2011

Thanks for validating me. I also found that Garmin XT is the best of all but it doesn't have TTS.

^^^
It's good, I've tested it.
After all, FBF posted it so it couldn't be bad, right?

It's a nice minimal setup (480x272 only) for possibly limited systems. No TTS or anything advanced, but all can be added like any 8.3x.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I would love to download it, but your links are no longer valid for the 2nd file.

is there a reason that so many ppl use these crappy file servers? I mean, if I save the thing to my google drive, and password protect the file itself, and then only give the link to people that ask for it, what would be the issue?

You can certainly do that.
But if you uploaded, say a portion of the files that this site makes available...something like a terabyte maybe..and then a portion of the people who download files from here accessed and downloaded....let's say a few thousand every month...and then lets say somebody somewhere (like the copywrite owner of your files) did not like what you were doing, I wonder what Google would do with your account?
Get the picture?
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

And would the copywriter owner not call you a second Kit Dotcom?

Plus, let me add this. You make it sound like it's an inconvenience to you to try and download something that you're getting for free. But it's someone else that has to upload it to keep the links fresh and that takes time. Just know, that it's the final upload host that deletes the file so NO MATTER what one does, it's going to die at some point even if you PM for the link. Even if we were to keep the initial program on a flash drive or somewhere it has to be re-uploaded.

Yea, I understand all that.. Maybe, its because I'm like a kid in a candy store right now. Finding all the new things that work, and what doesn't. I love it!

As for the IGo with TTS.. got it working.. and it does a really nice job. had to remove sys.txt from my igo folder, strange, but, it works.

Thank you to everyone that has answered questions so far.. And, sorry to ask about the upload sites. Everything running again.
