Truck Maps - Primo Versions

Postby Mariner1961 » Tue Jul 02, 2013 10:44 am

Hi, I've only recently come to Igo Primo from Tomtom when I bought one of the truck sat nav's for use with a mobile home having had a bad experience with a gradually thinning road in Italy, hence the truck version.

The version installed on my machine was 1.2 and worked well.

I decided to check the size/weight limitations of the software by testing a route on a local stretch of road that I know has posted limitations and another that is on the map but cannot take anything larger than a mini bus. When in default truck mode the version 1.2 mapping routed around both these roads so I was confident that the system would work for my intended use.

I then updated to the latest maps and installed the United_Kingdom_R3_NQ_2012.Q4_130216_(TI).ftr and associated maps. I found that the software now appeared to ignore the weight limitations and used the road that was inappropriate for the default truck. It did however, route around the road that was physically too small for the truck.

I updated the software to 2.4 and have now found that in default truck mode it will use both these roads despite the fact that one is signposted as a lower weight and the other physically cannot take the size of the vehicle.

Am I missing something in settings or is there some reason why the newer version software will not work with the truck map?

Regards

Mariner

Hi,

that's coming up as an invalid link.

Thanks anyway.

any chance you could confirm the version number that's working for you?

Cheers

What about the "IGO PRIMO Truck V2.0"? You clicked on the "Thanks" to get the link, did you try it?
Check the original post on Wed., I'll upload the program without the content, so you (and all other members) will not have to download all the package (3.7GB).
You can install the program and use an updated content with it.

FWIW

It's a fact that 2.4 works flawlessly on some devices and crashes on others.

Also, in the early days of 2.4, a user reported that, although 2.4 crashed on him very often, it was still the best truckers version he had ever used and spite of the crashes, he would continue to use 2.4. Routing for trucks has never been better. HIS words, not mine!

Since that comment, some newer global.cfg files have been posted on this forum. (latest : http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?13449-Global_cfg.zip-308627)
Maybe those files help against crashing? I had a returning crash choosing a poi as a destination, which was miraculously solved by using a (then) newer cfg file.

Again : FWIW

Hi,

the program itself works fine without any crashes at all. It just seems to ignore the truck routes for some reason.

Cheers
