I don't think these devices use a shell.ini, try renaming the executable to R66Navigate7.exe, it might need too go into a Route66 folder.

Is there a way to change the path to the SD card to iGO8.exe instead of your device looking toward the internal?

I meant on sd card, they were always R66Navigate7.exe on Route 66 devices.

What does your sys.txt look like? Can you post it?

See if anything helps here:

Another member did it this way successfully:

1. First I suggest that you get a suitable SD card, size depending on how many maps you want to put on it, I'm using a 2GB for Europe.

2. If needed format the SD-card (FAT32), and name it ROUTE66 (capital letters!) (Don't know how important this is tho')

3. Copy/Extract the iGO 8 folder on to SD-card and rename the folder from "iGO 8" to "Route66" (of course without the " ")

4. From the original Route 66-SD-card,you look for the file "R66Navigate8.exe" (should be found inside the original Route66-folder) and copy this file onto the "new card" previous formated.
Make sure you put it in the "Route66"-folder of the "new" card. When that's done, rename the file to R66N8.exe

5. Rename "IGO8.exe" (on the "new card") to "R66Navigate8.exe" (again, without the " " )

6. On your "new card", there should be a file named "sys.txt" in the (now) named Route66-folder. Copy this file to your computer, open it and delete everything inside, save it, copy it back to the "new card", and overwrite the old one.
You might not need to first move it to your computer, I did, just to be "safe".

7. Insert new card into the device, reset and start the program.

8. It is important that you configure the settings for the gps (when you get into iGO8).
On the R66 Mini it should be Port2 Baud Rate 38400 (or simply click "auto detect)

And now, you should be all done.

There is a R66Navigate8.exe on sd card in the route66 folder and I renamed it but nothing.

Hi Chas521 I followed your last post and still nothing does not recognize sd card so I tried different brands of sd card and same thing.

Tell us exactly what you did. Did you delete any original files from the internal?

Also saw this:

1. First I suggest that you get a suitable SD card, size depending on how many maps you want to put on it! (2 GB should be enough for most of the Europe) or you can use the original SD, but make sure that you make a full backup first, before you format it!
2. Format the SDcard (FAT32), and name it ROUTE66 (case sensitive!)
3. From the original Route 66 SD card, look for the file "R66Navigate8.exe" (should be found inside the original Route66-folder) and copy this file onto the "new card" you just formatted. Make sure you put it in the "Route66" folder of the "new" card. When that's done, rename the file to R66N8.exe
4. Add maps, pois from your choice. iGO maps are really easy to find..
5. Insert new SD into the device, reset device and start the program.
6. It is important that you configure the settings for the gps (when you get into iGO8). On the R66 Mini it should be Port2 Baud Rate 38400 (or simply choose "auto detect" option in iGO8 settings)
7. Enjoy
