TTS Pro on Primo 2

Postby screenname » Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:31 pm

I installed Primo 2 and download the the US English file here. Primo works but TTS Pro is greyed out under Settings -> Sound and Warnings. I am using (US) - Amry v187119 now but she sounds to me like UK English than US English.
The question is how to enable TTS Pro?

TTSPro only works with Nuance voices, what voices did you download?

Amy is "Natural voice". Tom, Jill and Samantha do show up under Voice Language. However, if I click of any of them, no sample sound is produced. Only the "Natural Voice" ones (James, Kate, Jason, Dave, & Amy) make sample speech.

Natural voices are not TTS, so therefore TTS Pro will not work.

How did you install the TTS Pro voices?

And does your device have at least 64MB of RAM and has Windows CE 5 or later?

Maybe I ask the wrong question. Primo 2.0 is installed on a Mio C310x (3.5") PNA that is about 4 yr old. Have no idea what version of Win CE is on it and the amount of RAM. For Primo 1.2, I do have TTS (Samantha?). Is it possible to have TTS but not necessary TTS Pro on my device?

From a quick Google search it appears that this is a WinCE 4.2 device, So unfortunately Nuance TTS Pro won't work, Loquendo (With the correct dll's) does, And with a bit of fiddling will work with TTS Pro.

64MB Ram and WinCE 4.2 (most likely).
TTS Pro is unlikely to work with this combination, and older TTS versions will not provide any of the more advanced TTS features..they would remain greyed out.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Since I am the person responsible for those LOQ TTS voices and components, please let me butt-in with some support and advice. You must do this:

1. In the blue box is my modified TTS_LOQ folder. Using Winrar, extract the folder [not the files] to the root of your Primo folder.

2. Copy and paste [in your case] the English .dll and all of the other three in 4.2 to the root of your Primo folder. Just saw that my 4.2 .dlls has the English. dll so just copy the whole download and replace the other 5.0 .dlls.

3. Copy and paste all the English voices to content\voice.

4. You must make the edit changes located in the blue box for Primo.

5. I haven't tried the LOQ TTS in Primo 2.0 so you might have to delete 2.0 and install my 1.1 which is ready to go EXCEPT that you must change the .dll for 4.2. http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?5500-November-Primo-1.1-from-my-device
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Thank you for all the replies. I think the 4.2 dll link at
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?912-TTS-voices-and-components&highlight=loquendo+modified
is dead.

Qooy website is down. Could be a server problem, unless someone knows more.
Try again later.
