hiya all
decided to add tts to my primo 2.4 for spoken street names etc, installed uk, us and aus tts voices but am getting miss pronounced streets, especially with abbreviations for example saint peters street (shown on map as st. peters st) voice says street peters street, or saint johns road (on map st. johns rd) voice says street johns road and numerous others
all files from here and using navteq 2013.q3 maps and phoneme files. unit is a binatone s500
is this a problem/glitch with tts?
is there any way to get it pronouncing correctly? or just live with it?
thanks in advance

Saint and street use the same abbreviation, iGO won't know which is which. So it's something we have to live with.
It'll be nice if the map makers didn't use abbreviations.

I had a feeling that might be the case, cheers for the confirmation

Now that's one big reason why I prefer iGO8 over Primo because I can control how things are pronounced however st. for street and saint can be confusing but manageable.

An old sat nav that pronounced Weston S Mare as Weston South Mare annoyed me, it wasn't iGO though.

In iGO8, you would make the pronunciation change in the .lex file and you can make it say almost anything as long as you make the entry correctly.
