ok, when using tts there is a time lag at the end of speech before it returns to what ever program (radio etc) it speaks over.
Any ideas how to make tts turn off after speech finished? ie, less time where there is nothing..

Not sure, bazzle, but some things (I think) that could cause this :
a) your hardware lacks the power to quickly make the change. What happens when non TTS voice is used?
b) there is possibly an extra silence/pause programmed. Either the silence is recorded after each sentence, or the silence/pause is called somehow. Usual voices can be taught to say other words by changing a certain file. Maybe TTS can too?
In my opinion, kamoteka could know.

Do you mean that igo is silencing the radio or cd, ie, Not the igo music player?

It silences whatever is on , Happy with that.
TTs works OK.
example;.... Music... (igo takes over) Turn left at smith street....................silence..............................silence.............................(igo stops) music back on.
Need to reduce the silence bit
was hoping for a setting under TTS or Debug in sys.txt that may be related.

I'm going to try and replicate the problem on my device...
Wed Nov 24, 2010 10:03 pm
On both my devices when using an external mp3 player (TCPMP) the music is not muted or lowered at all, but when using igo's built in mp3 player the music fades down just before the tts speaks and for about one second afterwards, then fades up. I don't see any obvious sys.txt lines to change this, Another explanation could be that the hardware detects that a WinCE program is using the sound output and lowers the radio/cd output, There maybe a device setting for this. What happens when you use igo's music player?

I dont use or have igos music player.
I also saw similar issue on another forum with igo only and in car 2 din.
This makes me think igo has a setting.(somewhere) in an .ini etc

A bit of digging around on the net finds these iGO8 sys.txt options...
[sound]
suspend_time=
use_os_volume=1
I can't test them as i can't replicate the problem on my devices.

There wasn't any example values listed so just experiment with random numbers, See what happens.
