still in trouble friends (almost finished)

Postby bruno83al » Mon Jun 24, 2013 1:26 pm

hi guys
need some more help if its possible.
1. i deleted the save file
2. downloaded the SirfGPSTweaker and found the port and baud
delete the info at sys.txt and entered the generated data from SirfGPSTweaker as below
[gps]
port="6"
baud="19200"

insert the sd card in the unit and after the initial settings done i route to an adress.
the unit recognize the streets adresses and everything (Albanian map)

the problem starts after confirming the route.
it doesnt recognize my actual position but knows the "default" russian adress in moskow (now its becoming familiar to me) while i'm in albania

any idea?

thanks in advance
bruno

Look in the sys.txt for any entry[ies] that might have a default location setting. You may have to delete the save folder again.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Is this the first satellite fix?
Then just be a little patient and leave the unit search for satellites. It needs at least 3 satellites and preferably more to know your exact location. Meantime, it places you at it's "default" location. As long as not enough satellites are found, you will virtually be in Moscow.

Besides you must realize some thing here: the software will always remember the last location, that is of the device and if the satellites. Only while the GPS is "off" power, satellites travel in space. Their location changes so at a new start, the software will look at the last location in space, where the satellites are gone. The further they are away from that last known position, the longer a new fix will take.

Thnx for the suggestions guys.
I re erase all the data at sys.txt
Enter only the previous gps settings
for port and baud.
Also re delete the save file
and did the primary settings from beginning.
After I plan a route it still stuck me to russia (even after 20 mins)
and when I press the upper left button of the satellite
tells me 0 satellite (even though when I check the
Navi path and gps receiver it finds me half of the displayed satellites at least.
I'm beginning to be boring with this I understand but I can't figure out how to fix it.
Help!

Let me ask you this question[s]. When you are in the car and get a satellite fix, what location does the map show? The next time you use your navigation device what location does the map show?

Hi chas521
When I check satellites via check gps option in the main screen (without entering to the navigation) it only gives me the coordinates.
Im gonna check them in google to find if they correspond to my real position or not.
Everytime that the navigator is started it shows moskow.

Your gps tells you you are in Moscow because you entered the Moscow time zone (or it detects it somehow).
You set the port and baud in sys.txt?
Then change it to

[gps]
;port="6"
;baud="19200"

Delete the save folder once more and let Primo find out itself. Primo should be smart enough to figure out the correct settings.

You have to let the program get a satellite lock first. Then you will see your real location on the map. And from then on, the map will show its last location.

hi nabi
just added ; in the sys.txt and deleted the "save" file
inserted the sd card in the car's unit.
nothing really changed.
i check for gps signal from the unit (before opening igo) it finds signal from satellites because it says gps ok and the coordinates and latitude that it gives me are correct (i checked them in google maps and it showed me the exact street address that i actually was).
the problem starts when i open igo primo. it starts in a position in moscow. i let the map for about 15 minutes in the hope that it will find some satellites. the map get stuck in the russian address, 0 satellites are found after 15 minutes and i can't use the "where am i option"
i started a route to an adress nearby (albania). it starts calculations and after that it tells me the distance from the moscow adress to the albanian street i entered (more than 2000km while i'm not more than 2km from that adress)

hi chas521
sorry but i don't understand exactly what you mean by "let the program get a satellite lock".
i let the map for about 15 min and still can't find a single satellite.
when i check gps from the unit (before opening igo primo program) it finds satellites and gives me my correct coordinates in 2 or 3 sec.

If you already have your language, voice and content files, you could use this English-only version of Primo, http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?12043-iGo-Primo-2.4-9.6.13-Complete-Torrent&p=107368#post107368 Just add your files to the appropriate content folders. Yes, this program works.

hi chas521
this link is the same primo downloaded from the piratebay.se posted by yurbuh.
i want to describe my procedure from the beginning (maybe this could help identify the problem).
1. i've take a brand new 8gb sd card.
2. download yurbuh's igo primo.
3. copied it in the sd card.
4. i'downloaded the igo R3 navteq maps (Q3 2012) (i think they are compatible with primo)
5. copied them in the igo primo2/content at the respective folders maps,poi,building,phoneme
6. download and copy to sd card SirfGPSTweaker
7. it says com6 and baud19200. ater that i deleted SirfGPSTweaker.
8. added [gps] in the sys (.txt) file
port=6
baud=19200
9. after this i insert the sd card in the unit, give the gps path (primo.exe)
10.check the gps (it says gps ok and give me the exact position)
11.after that I open the navi and igo primo starts.
12.enter the initial settings (language, voice, km, l/100...)
13.when it gives me the initial map it tells moscow and gives the coordinates of the place in moscow.
14.it gets stuck in that position even when i travel in my car.
this is how my sys looks like right now

[debug]
skip_eula=1
experimental_features=1

[folders]
has_secondary_root=0

[interface]
show_exit=1
extra_settings=1

[other]

[gps]
port=6
baud=19200

Couple of things here. First, instead of downloading from Pirate Bay [maybe it's me but I don't really trust that site], please make sure that you run your anti-virus program when you download from that site BEFORE you install anything. ANY downloads made from Navitotal are completely [100%] free of ANY viruses or malware.

What language are you using?

If it's English, did you download my English-only Primo 2.4? http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?12043-iGo-Primo-2.4-9.6.13-Complete-Torrent&p=107368#post107368 It is ready to go. I already did the work for you.

yes i use it in english
i downloaded 2.0 version because i read in the forum that the version was stable and that there weren't important differences with 2.4.
anyway if you think so i'll backup my sd card and download your 2.4 version.
can you suggest me a link for recent europe map or igo R3 maps are compatible.
thanks for your help chas521
