USB malfunction?

Postby dannyu » Sun Sep 19, 2010 9:45 pm

Hi all,

A quick question (from a friend of mine):

Every time a USB plug is hooked to the USB port of a MIO 320, it decides
that it's time to get connected to a PC (i.e data link).
This is done when even a plug is hooked in the car with nothing but a 5V input from the car ligher/at home.
I'm not sure that when a PC is hooked, the actual link is indeed established (still needs to find out, I haven't saw the unit yet).

Is this something that can be fixed with software? Is it a hardware problem that can be fixed?

Thank you,
Danny

Some usb chargers short out the data lines of the usb lead, On some devices this may make the device think that a pc is connected, A lot of mobile phone chargers do this, Is it the original charger?

the home charger is not the original, but the car charger is (and the unit responds the same way to both of them).

Does the unit display green light instead of red light when charging.
Is the unit unlocked by some program.
Give more details

My gut feeling is a hardware issue, but please post more info.

If you are using the original MIO car charger it should not happen unless the the charger is defective.
