Vehicle-Car icons for iGo8

Vehicle-Car icons for iGo8

Postby siberian » Tue Jan 03, 2012 1:06 am

Are there any "vehicle" files available? There is an option to choose whether you want the canonical arrow or other to denote your position on the map. On mine it seems ignored which leads me to believe that I must be missing a small file with the vehicles. Any hint? TIA

Are the folders (i.e. cars, dem...) case sensitive? It doesn't seem to be picking up the cars folder which is all in lower case

No, but any cars from Primo anything.anything will not work in iGo 8.anything.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Thanx, it says to place them in the iGo folder. Shoudln't they go into the content folder instead? This s for 3D Cars v 1.3 right?

Alas it's not picking the car files up. I made sure the sys.txt is correct, directories are case sensitive, deleted the russian version for space considerations but I don't have a command visible that would allow me to access the car files and change the cursor. This is on a Maisun, running WinCE5, iGo8.3

Anything I'm missing here? TIA

You may need to load one of the skins shown on that page to get the car selections available there.
If you don't like the look of the skin, you can disable just about anything it adds on the Map screen.
As far as where to put the cars folder, iGo8 is different from Primo, so do exactly as the instructions say.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I'm assuming you mean the Themechanger files? If so what version, does it matter?

No, not Themechanger....SKIN.
Scroll up on that page.
Any skin that includes your resolution should be fine...download all of the latest versions and try them all if you like.
But be sure to pick one (or more) that specifically states that it supports whichever Car Collection you want to use.

@siberian

To use cars, do not put the cars in the root of iGO8 folder but in a sub-folder which you create.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I dumped diMkaWert_1143b.zip into \igo8\content\skin

However since I don't have the latest iGo8.3 it may not work. I'll give it a try when the wife returns with the car.

Chas, it stated the top directory in the sys.txt... Should I change it and move it to content then?

Do you have iGO 8.3? Then the skin should work. Not with iGO 8.0! Try the cars both ways individually. In content\cars [1 way] and igo8\3D cars or igo8\cars. Remember to completely shutdown your device each time you try something differently and then re-start.

Yes, I have 8.3 but not the latest sub version 8.3.x.y . The name of the folder where cars are should be moot as it's specified in sys.txt, As long as the name entered there is the same and in the specified directory it should be oK no? Meaning if I called it 3dCars in \SD card\igo8\ and the same is entered in sys.txt it should be OK, no? If I use your approach wouldn't I have to change the directory entry in sys.txt before every try?

As to turning the unit off, yes, of course. I remove the SD card bring it up to the Mac, edit it and slap it back in. Getting a good workout going up and down stairs :)

Thanx for your help
