No voice guidance on iGo8.3 and WinCE5.0

Postby siberian » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:28 pm

Thanx Chas I must have spaced out on that thread.

Now on to the lack of voice guidance. I must say in all honesty that this is entirely the wife's fault. In this Maisun unit (her car and hence after installing it I haven't really touched it since - and of course no manual came with the used unit) there is a stupid little button right next to the Disc Eject whose only purpose in life is to cut the Audio from the Navigation. I guess she must have ejected a disc and inadvertently pressed the eject as well as the disable navigation audio.

I do apologize. Unit works as advertised and strict instructions have been given about not touching said button. Will it be remembered? Doubtful, but I will if it happens again.

Again thank you

Don't worry about it. EVERYONE does something. Nevertheless, I completely recommend my program. It's really good. Just backup your friend's first but make sure that it works.

I'm downloading household_hints parts 1 & 2 as we speak. Sorry took a little longer to change oil, filter etc. in two vehicles and go to the dump 15 miles away to dispose of it properly.

Again thank you for your help and patience!

Yep, but gotta wait until the wife takes a trip in a couple of weeks so I can have the vehicle for a while.

BTW I notice that there are many changes between your "packet" and the one I'm running as for example the iGo8.exe is larger than the one I have. Will that run under WinCE5? Just asking as that's not exactly the most stable piece of "software" :)

That's probably because my program has more features. YES, it will run under WinCE5. Remember to use my sys.txt and include the entries you need for your device. Also, remember to save the new sys.txt before exiting the application.

Not sure I follow. If I make any changes to sys.txt, of course I'll save them. What do you mean before exiting the application? What application, the editor?

I assume I can delete all the non relevant 480x800 stuff, correct?

The application is "notepad" for the sys.txt. Whenever you make an editing change in the sys.txt, it needs to be saved before exiting. I wouldn't delete anything right now and install it first. Then make a backup first and then you can delete.
