Hi Folks
As a complete newbie to this field, I would appreciate some assistance. I have just had an A-Sure (Chinese) miltimedia head unit, believed to be model W7TD, to my VW T5. This solution was chosen as a way to combine a reversing camera and satnav without lots of bits of wire and window suction cups.
The system came with a 4Gb SDHC card, although it can read up to 16GB, and the card contained a 2011 version of iGo Primo 9.2, but I note that the .exe file on the card is iGo8.exe The system runs Win CE 6.
Attempts to update the software to add in UK postcodes and updates have led to me being informed by Naviextras.com that the software is pirated. I have since been looking for replacement software, and can find pirated stuff by the bucket full, but nobody seems to be selling just software, except Navigator 12 - Free or paid for. Navigator is OK, but needs the remote control. I have subsequently discovered that the remote does not work! Yes the supplier is about to get some big complaints, but I like to have a Plan B in my back pocket.
I would like to buy a legal copy of the software in the UK as I quite like it. Can anybody put me in touch with a UK retailer?
Regards
Pete

It is (almost?) impossible to buy iGo as software. The makers only sell it to OEMs so that it can be shipped pre-configured.
It has come on several different bits of hardware I've bought, but nearly all from China. Sometimes older versions of iGo, always out-of-date maps.
I have no way of knowing whether these are pirated copies, but a friend who used to run a business in China found it impossible to get licensed office and utility software there: all that was available was pirated copies. So I tend to assume that anything from China is suspect.
However, if the makers are not prepared to sell the software, they are not losing anything if you use a pirate copy. You may prefer a legal copy, but I doubt you will find one.

Welcome to NAVITOTAL!
You will not find here an official copy.
All other types of programs (Igo8, Primo) are available on the
program section of the forum.
Maps for all over the world are available as well on the
maps section.
As a complete newbie, I recommend you to read some tutorials that we have all over the forum. In a few hours you're on your way to become an expert :)
Do you want to step over the reading? start here with
Primo 2.4.
First rule is to keep a BACKUP of your original sd card and program. It is recommended to work with a new formated sd card.
Start your way, and come back to get help on specific issues.

Thanks, folks, for your comments.
Having already got a Pirate copy of iGo Primo installed on this device, I will probably just use it for the time being. I have, after all, still to get a response from the converter, who will no doubt be making rude comments to his supplier on my behalf.
I know one can get updated maps from 'grey' suppliers, but that usually requires more expertise than doing things legally. Do I really want to add that to my skill set? Not just yet.
I would be interested to know what other folk think.

Pete

LOL
The "grey" maps are the official maps and your expertise adding them to a "grey" Primo would be limited to download/copy/paste.

A few years ago I was in your position i.e unable to fathom out all these downloads /links etc.
But after reading the tutorials , having a go, asking lots of questions and getting loads of help from the forum members I regularly update tom tom maps/software and igo maps /software.
Have a go and you will end up with the latest maps etc.

Hi Folks
Thought I should close off this Thread by reporting that I have successfully created a bootable version of iGo Primo 2 with 2013 maps following your instructions. The download process was a bit odd to me in places, since I am more used to uploading, but I got there in the end. :D I just need to find a skin that I like...
Many thanks for the help and encouragement.
Regards
Pete

If you're talking about Primo 2.0 then yes to the Dimka skins. But if you're talking Primo 2.4, then go here
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?12556-DECENT-skin-for-Primo-2.4&p=109557#post109557 This skin is not busy with icons that clutter up the navigation screen. Just my opinion.
Now thread is closed!
