You have the iGO 90500, which has also TTS ;), Plus TMC (like Primo) Plus Outlook contacts import (unlike Primo)
Main difference between iGO and Primo is the looks. Next Primo has some nice features, like truck routes, smart routes, green routes (less CO2 theoretical), better looking junction view, possibility of using new Nuance TTS voices (Loquendo TTS voices work on iGO and on Primo), ...
Also Primo has some extras like screen shot, reconversion tables (liters-gallon, miles-meters, Euros-Pounds, ..), foto viewer, some others I can not remember now.
Most of this is possible on iGO too, using a skin (for truck routes a special iGO build). Junction view is implemented in iGO, but in Primo it is real eye candy.
On the negative side, Primo is said to calculate some odd routes and crash in tunnels.
Both calculate routes and bring you there. Which is the main purpose, right?
In short, Primo is the navigation program I would let my wife use. No offense ;)
But for me, Primo is not my choice, iGO is.

I have got the core from the thread you pointed to -
http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?1837-Working-iGO-8.3-from-my-device however, there is no TTS dll's that I can see did you know this ?

When you had read the 2Din thread , you would have known that the 2Din build is a "naked" build. Program is complete, also TTS capable, but all that is not needed for a basic install is left out. The 2Din 90500 is meant to set up on devices a normal iGO can not run on. Most important reason is lack of memory.
Your ViaMichelin suffers a weak processor instead. IGO will work, but the extras could be the problem. The more work the processor must perform, the more chances of functioning too slow.
As said, 90500 is TTS capable and the only thing it needs are the TTS DLL files, the correct lines in sys.txt and the TTs voices. And above all, a device that can handle TTS while navigating (processor and memory). Check our voice section, all info is there, all needed files too. However, links may be dead. Again. :(
The thread Chas points to should contain all needed for TTS as well. So that could be a workaround.
It may be worthwhile to read my post #12 again.

One step ahead of you, with all the reading I have done today I think by the end of it I will be pretty clued up on the igo8, I know garmin and TT like the back of my hand and now I am getting a feel for the igo. I have been trying to build it up all day its a slow process but I am getting there. Shame about the linkys. Will upload some mirrors once I am up and running as I have a faster than average server.

Read and re read my brain is frazzled,
I now have 2 rars they are:
Golf.rar =
tts_loq folder Talk.rar=
13 different loq files I don't really understand the instructions can you confirm that I put tts_loq folder in igo8 folder and extract talk.rar to the voices folder in content is this right ?
Wed Feb 23, 2011 3:12 pm
Now you are confusing to me :D
First you need a voice and language file or iGO won't even start. English is "on board". So no worries here.
Maps? You did not have them?
Check out this link for UK map and speedcams
http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?3942-uk-maps-speed-cameras-etc&p=24657&bcsi_scan_745AABEBDD0E5898=a3Y0SbpLLhVIWaGWRSfECF5jSGYeAAAAJKpBXw==&bcsi_scan_filename=showthread.php.
Post #3. (password is navitotal) Thank Fatboyfun for this !!
TTS.
For now, d/l the iGO presented by Chas, take the DLL files, the loq folder and the voices (I think they are American) and read the TTS thread (in voices section). Test if TTS works, voices can be changed later on.

Marcy - Nabi doesn't use TTS so I'm going to help you with this. Those folders are mine [modified] so I probably can do more for you with them. First, tell me what you want to do please.

Writing a post and rewriting it to something completely different after someone answered it is - how do you English say it ? - not done!
No one reading this thread will understand what happened, will understand the answers given.
The rar files I do not know the content. They are uploaded by Chas521. But in iGO there are no rar files, so unrar.
TTS loq folder should be in iGO root (iGO program folder). Voices in content/voices.
One thing: is your device Windows CE4.20 or 5.0?

OK thanks, I appreciate its difficult to explain these technical terms sometimes. Basically thanks to yourself and nabi I have the basics, speedcam,map and voices, I am now looking to add TTS I have downloaded both files from the link you gave me. However, I need clarification what exactly I should do with them. The files I have are
Golf.rar = tts_loq folder
Talk.rar= 11 different loq rar files and 2 files

Lol sorry about that, I was trying to put it in to better words so that you can understand me, I appreciate the language barrier so I am trying to break it down, because when one talks of files and folders it becomes complicated. Don't get me wrong your help has been infallible and deeply apreciated.

@Marcy
Let's do this! If you were a golfer you would understand what I'm babbling about LOL. Anyway............
First of all, I do not use your iGO 8.3 version so you'll need to "think" a little here.
1. TTS_LOQ folder is one I modified that has US and UK English TTS. It can be used in iGO and Primo. If you already have a TTS_LOQ folder in your Igo folder on your SD card, simply replace it with my folder.
2. Next, you will need the English TTS voices - both US and UK. That is talk.rar. They go into content\voices. Do not unrar the individual voices. They go into the folder unrared. I modified the voices so they are 20% louder. Kate [UK] now voices navigation commands much faster.
3. If you don't have them yet, the English [US and UK] phoeneme files go into content\language.
4. The .dlls go into the root of the iGO folder. You never answered Nabi about your WinCE version but both can be found there.
All can be d/l from the link I gave you above.
