I'm a newby with GPS and I'm struggling with my 'igo-primo'. When I try to enter a city ie Nakhon Ratchasima in this case, the screen automatically jumps to a different 'Nakhon Rat......'. It won't accept the city I want. I spelt it right but it auto jumps. Where have I gone wrong? Thank you

What version of map are you using, and what version of Primo?

I've just tested it with the map from here:

I think that if you use the maps version above, it should be O.K..

I'm really sorry but I go to those links and I'm fcuked. How do I access the maps on those links? I'm sorry to be such a pain. I do not know at this moment what version of map or Primo I'm using. In fact I don't know how I find out. I'm getting too old for all this new technology.

Unrar the downloaded file, and move the maps + poi's to the corresponding folders on your device/SDcard.
Primo version: Menu -> More -> Help -> About
Map version: Menu -> More -> Help -> About -> More -> Content -> Maps

Again, I think it's a map issue. Use the above map and it should work for you.

Ok, So now we know that you're using iGO8 and not Primo.
The map beeing used on your device is from TomTom (Teleatlas) 2012.03.
I don't have this version, but I have the TomTom (Teleatlas) 2012.06, and I was able to find "Nakhon Ratchasima" in this map as well.
The map I point you to, is from NavTeq 2012.Q4 (published on 130221), and this will probably solve your "Nakhon Ratchasima" problem.
It's simple, just download the map, unzip/unrar it and put it in your device. Move the old map to your computer, just to have it elsewhere.

A (the?) reason for not finding things you look for in a map can be with the mapmaker, how complete is its map? It may also depend on the version. Newer is not always better or more complete.

As you don't find Nakhon Ratchasima in the TomTom map while Filesupload can find it in the Navteq map, well, it fits.
However it's possible that using Navteq maps, you will encounter another issue concerning cities, routes (missing roads, bridges, ...) ...

I give up. I can make no sense on how to download the map in the link. I'll just have to try and find someone, and pay them, to sort it out for me.

After that, you should refresh the page, so you can see the link. After refreshing, you'll see this:

Click on it and download the file:

Save the dowloaded file to your compute, where you can find it later.
Unrar the file using a program called winrar.exe. If you don't have it, search google and download it, then install it.
In the program, choose the downloaded file from where you saved it to, and use the "Extract To" button. Use the password "www.navitotal.com" when asked for:

After you unrar the downloaded file, you should have 2 folders, "map" and "poi".
Move the files in "map" folder + the file in the "poi" folder to the corresponding folders on your device/SDcard.

It look a lot of work, but it's a 4-5 minutes fun, after that you'll have a new map and points of interest files you can use.

Sorry for the late reply. I've done all I've been instructed to do. I put the sd card into my machine and select 'navigation'. All I get is a pop-up saying "Make sure the navigation path is correct" and a second later it disappears.

You've done all you've been instructed to do, and downloaded the above files and un-rar'ed them? GOOD JOB. So it means you only replaced the map and poi, right? It have nothing to do with the way the program should behave.
I need you to post here the content of your sys.txt file, that in the root of your navigation folder. Edit it with Notepad (on your computer: Start-> Programs-> Accessories-> Notepad) and paste it here. (I wonder how the entry "[folders]" looks in your file).

Go to the gps section (or gps path)
Then set the navigation path (click on the igo folder until it show a .exe file)
After that you click on the navi icon
