does any one know where i can buy a4gb sd card for my tomtom one xl.

i have tried the usual *b*y & am**zon etc. and while there are load of sdhc cards, cannot find 4gb sd.

or maybe there is a way to get a sdhc card to work in the tomtom. mine does not and i have looked on other forums and it seem the general opinion that the tomtom does not recognise the sdhc card.

Certainly there is a way. Navcores 8.300 w/ bootloader 5.5015 or newer support the larger SDHC cards. I would stay away from any forum or website that sez otherwise.

navcore 9.205.547817.1 os 547200

the present bootloader is 5.3026

any chance you could give a newbie step by step instructions on how to upgrade the bootloader and which boot i upgrade to.

Every navcore has a bootloader (a file named system) included in it. Some patched navcores have the b/l removed, others have the b/l renamed, so it won't load. b/l for 9.205 is 5.5250. look in the root of your unit for a file named system5.5250. If it is there, rename it to system & reboot. If no, download the 9.205.cab in the latest navcore thread & copy the system file in it to your unit.

so do i download : [Please Register or Login to download file] ( sorry to ask, but i want to be sure first)
in it is a file named system 1.005kb (is this the correct file)

yes, problem solved, i now have a 4gb sdhc card working in my tomtom.
