Go 500 SD boot card?

Go 500 SD boot card?

Postby ewoewo » Sat Apr 09, 2016 5:12 pm

Hello,

I got this TomTom Go 500 as a gift.
It came without SDCard. It makes a red cross
when booting. It is recognized as a 0 byte drive,
which cant be formatted.

I suspect I have to make a boot SDCard. How do I do it?
I never had a TomTom Navi. I used the flash memory erase, but
I am not sure if I have the right version and it didnt make it recognized in TomTom home software.

Thanks,
Erwin

I have uploaded the fotos of it here, as I cant attach fotos.

The red cross indicates that the internal storage partition is corrupt which is why it can't be formatted...re-making the partition should fix the problem and allow you to format it

How to do that? With any available partitioning tool like minitool partition wizard?

Thanks,
Erwin

The red cross means that there is no navcore on the SD card. The 500 has no internal storage.

Use an SD card from 2GB or less to try it out.

*) Recommended Navcore navcore 9.540 32MB device
topic17200.html
--
Recommended Map (meta availble)
United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland 965.7250
--
1) Make a backup of your Device and delete the content.
--
2) Unpack the* navcore (winrar ) and place folders and files on your Device Internal/SD Card.
--
3) Reset The Device (minimal 20 sec) and start it till the announcement "No map found"
--
4) which map is compatible with any NavCore.
--
maps-v9xx-f179/all-new-maps-965-966-t18262.html
--
Horizontal map version
Vertical navcore
From navcore vertical down and horizontal maps
If the box is green you can use the map with this navcore (if it is red not)
--
5) Be sure that you have the right map.
Is there a meta from the map you want to use.
No meta then you can not use the map.
--
Copie the chosen map to your Device (root internal/SD Card) in his own folder.
If you open the map you see the loose files and probably a folder (brand).
Not a map in a map.
--
6) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your TomTom device root (internal or SD Card).
Run "FastActivate.exe".
     Select 1 and 2
Done

Thanks for your help. In 5 Minutes the device didnt get a GPS fix, no bar of reception, not even one.
So I tried the original 7.9 navcore, but I cant find maps for it.
Any other ideas?

Thanks a lot,

Erwin :-)

2.Reset your device.
Push the reset button for at least 20 seconds.
Turn your device on.
Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds (till the drum sound) and release button.
=================
Golden rule every time that the SD Card is taken out of the device
and later put into the device give it a reset.

Lay it down in the open ear. It can take op to 30 minutes before you got a GPS fix
We like to hear the result.
