go 500 second hand no maps

go 500 second hand no maps

Postby meadyyyy » Sat Jun 08, 2013 12:11 pm

hiya all

got me a second hand go500 which was supposed to be not working but only fault I found was it didn't power up unless it was plugged in (not worried about that)
anyway, when start it says no maps found
took sd card out and ran my-config and got this info (id and serial removed)

GetMy-CFG v2.53
===============

DeviceID=
DeviceVersionHW=GO 500
DeviceSerialNumber=

ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=5410
TTSystem 3541956 bytes, modified 08/06/2013 11:57
BootLoaderVersion=330

# - - - - - End - - - - - #

is this an early/old app?
so what is my best way to progress? start from scratch with a new navcore?
or just do map? but which one?

thanks in advance

You won't find any map that works on that Navcore - it is a dinosaur!
Unpack this archive to the root of your TT - it will update your bootloader at the next start, you need to do that before you proceed.
5475
Check the Navcore section for my Navcore, use one with installer and select the version with Memory Boost.
Check the 910 map thread for a 910.4892 map that covers the area you need and follow the instructions in the thread, make sure to use the current version of FastActivate!
If done correctly you will have a working GPS with the latest maps.

hiya and thanks for reply, the file in post, put it on device itself or root of sd card? reason I as, what might be silly question, is device runs prog from card so root to me means where prog runs from, does that make sense?
sorry if got wrong, new to navcore

Since a GO 500 has no internal memory, the answer should be pretty obvious.

ok, done everything recommended, extracted file in post onto card and put in device and turned on (got the please wait message) downloaded navcore with installer and selected version with memory boost and installed to sdcard, downloaded gb_irl map with installer/activator ran and selected card as destination. inserted into device and get red screen with cannot use map then screen goes to blue shutdown with countdown, then back to red then blue and so on.
erased card and started again, same thing, formatted and started again, same thing, tried new card and same again, have I missed something?

Are the map files in a folder like UK... or inside a sub folder?
Did you try to patch the Navcore with the activator of the map? The NC does not need patching it is ready to go.
What do you get just with the NC but no map installed? Still the red cross?

maps are in folder United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_910_4892
navcore on its own alternates between no maps found blue screen and shutdown screen
when installed maps used automatic installer&patcher version

Without a map the device should only display that there is no map found but not create bleuscreen or reboot.
Ok, it will reboot after quite some time though..
Use the map folder from the installer you have and delete the .dct file inside.
Add the map folder to your device and use the current version of FastActivate in the root of your device to activate the map - the Navcore is patched.

ok, done as instructed (map and activate wise) screen is alternating between whatever am on and a shutdown screen with a countdown, no voices (says not compatible with language) but unit/navcore recognises map and displays, so nearly there. just one thing, ran getmyconfig and shows following

GetMy-CFG v2.53
===============

DeviceID=
DeviceVersionHW=GO 500
DeviceSerialNumber=

ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9485
TTSystem 2309116 bytes, modified 09/10/2012 14:42
PNDNavigator 8172412 bytes, modified 09/10/2012 14:42
BootLoaderVersion=0
RDS/TMC 'mctx.dat' size 212 bytes
CurrentMap=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_910_4892
CurrentMapVersion=910.4892

DSA emulation mode=slf-Self;slf-Self;17-Rider;34-ONE;35-XL;36-XLLIVE;37-GO

# - - - - - End - - - - - #

not showing bootloader, so could that be problem? or something else that causing unit to keep going to shutdown screen then back again

Ok, so far so good, halfway there!
Normal voices inside the folder "voices" will work now, you can find lots of them in our voice section or by using Home and download them directly.
As for the comupter voices:
You can download them in the voice section too, when unapcking (all files into the folder LoquendoTTS) do not confirm to overwrite existing files.
Some archives can contain the files for the sound engine as well, overwriting your existing files with those can cause the computer voices to be selectable but they might be silent.

voices now work(had to put voices folder on card as wasn't there) so now I have standard voices.

still got display alternating between whatever screen I am on and shutdown screen, this prob wasn't there when original card was in, just no maps
left device running to see if self cures problem but doesn't so far

There should be no screen changes at all.
Do a ahard reset (hold reset for 30+ sec), followed by the TT clear flash tool,
if still no change use the attachment from post #2 and unpack the archive to the root of your device - confirm to overwrite if necessary.
At next boot you should see a waiting message indicating the new bootloader is being installed.
Report back if there are any changes.

ok, done as suggested, several times, ran clearflash from card through device connected to pc, ran clearflash from desktop with device connected, still same alternating between whatever am on to shutdown screen with countdown. did a clean install of NC and maps aswell but no change

I can confirm that bootloader has updated. if I put old card in it says please wait then re-boots, if I take card out and switch on and hold power button, get black screen with info on it and where bootloader is it says 3.30. do same again with file in post 2, screen says please wait and re-boots, take card out, turn off then on and hold power button, black screen again with more info on screen, bootloader SO clist#30068 RVCT
