Go 720 navcore on SD card

Mon Mar 07, 2011 5:55 pm

I just got my go720 working very well on the 9.205 navcore with the new maps. I know it is possible to leave the original navcore on the internal memory and run the newer navcores on the SD card. How would I go about doing this? (which files need to be copied, etc...)

Setup the card with navcore & map, the exact same way you would the internal. When inserted, the card becomes the default memory.

as far as I understand from your example, one could have a 720 with a NC 8.351 and maps 870.3606 on the RAM (official NC and last compatible map) OR/AND a SD card with a NC 9.205 and a different map.

WHICH criterion makes you choose the perfect match ?
I've read in some tutorial to keep the official NC as the best for your unit, and in some other that the best NC is a newer one.
How to choose ? Why did you chose the 9.205 ?

1. This is correct, except there is not a 870.3606 map & the internal (storage) memory & RAM memory not the same thing.
2. Check the compatibility chart in post 1 of the 870 map thread, to match navcores with maps.
3. The current official navcore for a device is the only one that has 100% functionality on that device. Any other navcore will not give you 100%.
4. Pick a navcore & try it. If it isn't right for you try another one.
5. I suspect because it is the newest & biggest number.
