720 unable to find my house number

Postby big bill » Fri Sep 12, 2014 7:37 pm

Hi
I have just installed United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_935_5753 map, all went well until I tried to enter my house number 176 and I get 138.
I then installed a new zip folder with just the same result.

OK. 9.510 is the official nc for your 720. 9.530 is OK. It is 9.510 modded to support SEA maps.
This may sound like a stupid question, but it isn't. What are you trying to accomplish by entering your house number?

After entering my postcode it then asks for a house number so it knows my house an not just the area.

My bad. That is not the answer that I was looking for. Let's try this: For what purpose are you putting in your complete address? Are you setting your Home Location, setting a nav route to home etc?
If so, just copy the mapsettings.cfg file from your old map folder to your new map folder.

If the old mapsettings.cfg file had your correct house number, it should have still been correct after the copy over, without any input from you.

This is the first time this has happened in all the years I have had it, and updated the maps and navcore.

I will put the old map back on for now.

Thanks for the help.

Before you do, try a couple of things for me & post your findings here.
1. Enter/Change your Home Location using the Change Home location to "Point on map" option. Results?
2. Enter/Change your Home Location using the Change Home location to "Address", "Street and house number" option.
After you enter your street, STOP!! Does TomTom offer your street in the scroll down window in more than 1 format?
Explanation: I had to navigate to 123 Elm Street Northwest. When I put in Elm Street Northwest, it popped up, but when I tried to enter the house number, I was given a bracket of numbers like 100-122. 123 was not included. I scrolled down a bit and found Elm St. NW. When I entered 123, BINGO there it was. We had a member report this same problem within the past year or so. With this explanation, he found the address with no problem.
