I am currently loading eu maps on my tomtom one iq, I understand the instructions to this point:

" that it is best to update the meta.txt first bevore you activate the map."

Will fastactivator just open and I click the options left to right? Do I need a copy of fastactivator on my pc or tt?

Do I need to do anything with tt home? Can I update to the latest version?

Finally I notice 1.7 fastactivator in the pics but seen 1.8 floating round - do i need that?

Thanks in advance and thanks downunder - I have been searching the web for 3 weeks to get this going - well thats being a newb for you!

ok map installed but fastactivate open and closed without doing anything - I have downloaded 1.8 which I placed on the tomtom - it says patching navcore.... which flashes repeatedly. It then just has a blinking cursor, the keyboard does nothing? help!

1. FastActivate self starts. If you are not changing the navcore, the meta update & map options only. FA is installed with the map download.
2. See answer 1. Yes you can update TT Home.
3. Whatever version is in the download will work fine, after you use the meta.txt update option.

I found fastactivate on my tom tom in the Europe_West_865_3246 folder, but it doesnt do anything just opens then closes. I have turned off all security and let it through my firewall.. still does nothing, i tried rebooting the satnav and it says cannot be used with map Europe West-298.... reconnect and run fastactivate... nothing.... reboot... nothing... bed!

FastActivate should not be located in the map folder.
Seems something went wrong.
Copy FastActivate into the root of your device.
Check if the map is inside the corresponding folder and not in a sub folder within.

I tried moving both 1.8 and 1.7 to the root both open then close before I can do anything.. It's my first time ever updating it. Do I need to move any Files it creates? I remember seeing something in the help file... Also how do I check what u say above about corresponding maps?

Ok I start from scratch.
Remove the map folder from your device.
Assuming your Navcore is working you unack the first RAR files with Winrar, all other parts are extracted automatically.
Start the Install.EXE on your PC.
When asked for the location of your device / SD card only enter the drive letter (e.g. "F").
The map and FastActivate are being installed and after that FastActivate will start.
Update the meta.txt
Activate the map/voices/speedcams
Patch the Navcore if not already done or SE/DSA version.

Done and should work just fine.
If you want to use a USB stick for all simply copy all files from your device on it and preceed as above.
You can see the map has been activated if a .meta.dct file is created inside the map folder.

That's what I did.. But fastactivate just opened and closed. I was left with Europe_West_865_3246 folder on the tt in that folder was fastatcivae and the help file, also there was another folder called Europe_West_865_3246.... I moved fastactive to the root and tried it again, but it just opens and closes really fast or says patching navcore and a blinking cursor. I do not have an sd card as it's the black small tt one iq with only internal mem.. Thanks again for your help.

I just tested the installer for the Europe_West_865_3246 and all went as it should.
There must be something you are doing wrong.
Are you sure you had only entered a drive letter for the installation path?

I chose browse for the drive and the map successfully installed. The instructions went as described up to fastactive - as u say I only chose the drive and clicked next... I'm home now so about to try again.

And it's running again...
