880 maps with automatic installer and FastActivate

Postby schleima » Sat Mar 03, 2012 3:50 am

Yes i only need to find my way in Dubai city and when we go out to Abu Dhabi and Hatta.
These are main roads so it should be fine
My main concern is to get back to the hotel at night from another part of town
I also wish to get to some place that have gps coordinates (shops, special spots) without worrying

I'm happy to have almost the latest map, i should manage.

I'll be lurking for the meta of version 885, I'm not sure how detailed the map is in 880.

1. If your unit functions with a patched map, then the navcore is also patched. If you want to know your version, run this little tool. TomTom Current Configuration {29.09.2011}

2. You will do fine with 880, if 885 is still not available when you depart.

This is the reason given for the 404 error:: This folder has been removed on 28.02.2012, because it had been offline for 60 days and no new links were added.

May I suggest:

Morocco
Morocco_885_4088
[7MB] OR
Morocco_885_4088 with Automatic Installer & Patcher
; Morocco 885_4088

Curious...curious...
Over the last 3 years, after some initial invaluable assistance from this site, I've successfuly downloaded and installed various suitable/compatible maps (on SD cards) upgrading them as new maps appear. However I'm now experiencing a problem with Canada-Alaska 880.3810. According to the chart at the start of this thread, that map should run with NC8545 on my ONE XL. But I see in TTHome "this item cannot be used on this device because it needs to be activated first". And in the ONE XL "Problem with this map. You cannot use this map in this device: Canada-Alaska-452".
I see exactly the same messages when running with NC9058 in the same ONE XL.
Some points...
I originally used the thread "How to update a 32mb Widescreen TomTom Device" when setting up my ONE XL.
The Western and Central Europe 880.3810 (same vintage as this problem map) runs perfectly with NC8545.
I've now tried activating the map using various 'activators' including the supplied TAASE.exe, and AutoActivate and FastActivate, to no avail.
The map parts downloaded and extracted with no difficulties - no CRC errors with WinRAR, for example.

Any clues as to what's going on? and how to fix it?

Alternatively is there another up-to-date map of Canada (Atlantic provinces especially), that will work?

The map is not patched: there is no .meta.dct in the folder. Tried TAASE.exe and AutoActivate.exe again: no change to the folder's contents.
What do I do next? Where should that .meta.dct file come from? A download or locally generated?

Download the latest version of FastActivate and try again, I guess the meta download for the older versions is no longer working.

Downloading, unpacking and installing FastActivate_05.07.2012_Premium_edition_v1.8.8.9.rar has done the trick! Map now patched and working. Many thanks - you're a gem!
