880 maps with automatic installer and FastActivate

Postby ramg1967 » Sun Jan 08, 2012 5:23 pm

Hello,

I am new to the site (just joined today). I have a brand new TomTom GO 630 with SD CARD (4GB). Internal FREE space is only 180MB. Hence added 4GB SD Card.

I want to install MAPS to India onto SD Card. Will South East Asia maps cover India or which maps will cover India? Thanks to your input.

This site is amazing. Everything you need for TomTom - Can get it. Wonderful. Google search paid off.

Device Code - JBxxxx GOxxxx
Type GO630_2048

One more question :
Is this procedure correct ?
1) format the sd card with FAT32 filesystem
2) make a chkdsk /f on the sd card
3) Launch the installer (previously unpacked) and wait

What files must be on the SD card before lauching the installer ttgo.bif ? ttsystem ? nothing ?
Is that correct to have J:\Europe_880_3812\Europe_880_3812 at the end ???

What should I do, when the installation programm say
All installed now and FastActivate will start, please update the meta before activating the map

1. We never recommend formating, excpt in the most extreme cases.
2. Not necessary.
3. Yes
4. Map, ttgo.bif & patcher.
5. No, just J:\Europe_880_3812

I just switch and download the Europe_v880_3812 and (so i forget the Europe_2GB_v880_3812).
I install this new map but I find out that the file ttgo.bif on the sd card is not uptodate, it is still the v850 version, what can I do to change that ?
I just try to activate with the first method on this page http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?7794-All-New-Maps-880.XXXX but it doesn't change anything.
I have the impression that with the fastactivate.exe program that the update meta.txt doesn't work, is that possible ?
What can I try to install a v880 map on my navcore with OS 9.016.695 ?
Should I try to install it on the internal memory ? (Why do I buy a SD card ...)
Any other ideas ?

The ttgo.bif will be create new at the next start, it does not matter if is old.
For FastActivate to work correctly you need a copy of the ttgo.bif on the SD (check) and FastActivate in the root of the SD.
If using Win7/Vista run FastActivate as administrator, click update meta and than activate the map.
If done correctly you will find a .dct file in the map folder.
Start the TT and select the new map.

And what should I do, if after the installation of the new map. I can't use the old or the new one ? Is that because I have try to patch the navcore program ?
I'll try this evening to reinstall everything, but it's not easy at all or perhaps it's because i'm a computer engineer

What about the part 3 of this map (Europe_2GB_v880_3812), it says that is unknow ? [Please Register or Login to download file]

1. it would help if you post the original error message from the device - we don't like to do guesswork here
2. if your Navcore is not patched it is obvious that you need to patch it to use self activated maps
3. the keygen overwrites all DCT files, that goes for your old map as well
4. it was easy enough for a 68 year old grand father, so a computer engineer should be able to match it
5. if you would have have taken the time to check the the acual link itself you would have seen that : Sorry, the server hosting the file you are requesting is currently down for maintenance. Please check back soon. - I hope that answers your question to the link

Thank you very much.
At the end, it works. Sorry for my stupid questions.
It has works since I delet the old map in the internal memory and replace it with the new one.
I can't explain why it doesn't work. But yet, I make a backup and store it on an external drive.

Thank you, you boys are much more competent than my tomtom gps reseller who took my gps between christmas and one week after the new year and bring it to me without updating/upgrading anything !!!

Thank you very much. Let's begin a relationship with my car navigator ;)

I just wanted to thank the uploader. I had 2 TomTom 335TM GPS units and somehow the maps had gotten deleted and TomTom refused to do anything about it since I didn't have the sales receipt. So, I used your Canada, USA and Mexico maps and they work perfectly.

Thanks again Downunder!

Hi You can use JDownloader software instead and it captures the link and you can select the appropriate files to download, instead of download the ilivid download manager
Cheers
