After map update, can't operate device?

Postby andrewsfm » Sun Jan 16, 2011 1:15 am

I've got a G0930 with the original 8.351 navcore.

I originally upgraded the navcore to 9.150.554646 and it worked fine on the device, but HOME was throwing an error saying that this version of the application isn't allowed on my device and updates were disabled.

I restored my backup to the original device navcore, and installed map 860.3101 with the automated installer.

It works fine on the device and updates are available again, but when I try to operate it on my computer with Home to add a startup password, it says that the map cannot be used with this device and won't let me.

Is there a way I can upgrade to navcore 9.xxx AND install the latest map version, and keep HOME happy and be able to do everything, or can I only keep one or the other?

1. The error message didn't disable anything. FFR, just close the message and do whatever you wanted to do.

2A. Since 8.351 is now patched, TT Home "Operate my GO" also must be patched.

3. You can use any navcore that you so desire. If you change it, this fix will prevent the version error message.

To fix version error.
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
ApplicationVersion=9982
"Save as" ttgo.bak
Disconnect & reboot

I erased everything off the device and then restored my backup.
Installed navcore 9.150 and then installed the above map.

Changed lines 9 and 10, but it still doesn't work.

When I go to "Operate my GO" it says on the device screen...

Problem with map
You cannot use this map on this device: North_America-254

Please select a map.

Suggestions?

1. Confim that you followed these instructions exactly. If you did, after the reboot you will have these 3 files: ttgo.bif, ttgo.bak & ttgo.ori.

To fix version error.
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
ApplicationVersion=9982
"Save as" ttgo.bak
Disconnect & reboot

Once you get the above confirmed, place the attached folder in the extensions folder, replacing the existing folder, here:
With Vista or Windows 7
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions
[/font]

If you do all of the above correctly, your version error & OMG problem will be corrected.

I already did the ttgo.bif and save as ttgo.bak but that didn't work.

Turns out the problem was that I needed the file you just attached.
Originally when I deleted all of the files in the "extensions" directory and replaced it with just the folder in the RAR it didn't work.
You have to merge the existing folder with the above file, since not all files that are needed are not included in the file you attached.

I figured it out, and everything is working now. Thanks.

Just for clarification:
1. This fix is solely to fix the version error message.
2. OK
