UK and usa maps on XL

Postby combat goofwing » Tue Aug 03, 2010 9:58 am

as mentioned previously im going to the states soon, so my plan was on my XL that shows an internal drive of 976 MB,
put on uk maps 850.2820 149 MB and usa 850.2873 766mb
this will leave 61 mb free

how ever when i try it it says not enough room, i have deleted all the voices on there and just left my tt vocalizer on which is 21 MB
leaving 40 MB but it says im 41 mb short is there any way i can gain this by removal of things not in use

just deleted all maps off the device and i have a hard drive of 976 mb size with 877 mb free space
that means there 99 mb in use on there, i thought the navcore etc was about 40mb and then the tt vocalizer another 20 mb , so where is the other 38 mb being used ?? any suggestions

Do the maps you are using have c-speech files ? you can remove these they can be quiet large

We have already been down this road once, and nothing has changed since then. But we are here to help, so we will go down it again.
1. Post a screen shot of the 9.051 on your XL, also the UK & USA maps.

the advice i was given previously was the only way to get both maps on was to use
850.2820 uk maps and 850.2873 usa maps, as you can see this it what i am now trying to do but its proving difficult

as far as i can tell neither map has c speech files in them

attached is a screen shot of content

You can delete anything that you are not using in the following folders:

art, contacts, mp3, photos, poi, sounds & voices. I have no idea what is in the zip folder. You can delete the entire @tomtom.com folder.

Delete these files:

antitheft, FastActivate, lowbattery, & ttgo.

Yes, I know, but I doubt that you will be convinced, until you see for yourself.

Ok if any of these files are presant in your map folder and/or your root memory delite them,

From the map folder (If presant)
cphoneme.dat
crpoi.dat
poi.dat
ALL cspeech.dat
tmccodes.dat

From the root (if presant)
art folder
mp3 folder
ASR folder
and all voices apart from the voice you want to use
helpme folder
Loquendo TTS folder / Vocaliser TTS folder
contacts folder
Photos folder
raster folder

What you lose (If available on your current setup), is:

Change car
Help Me
TTS
TMC
ASR
POI's
Bluetooth
cspeech
Photos/mp3 etc

Delite the file then you can add the poi's later when you can see how much space you have left
