Are all maps and navcores universal?

Postby NavmanF35123 » Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:36 am

Sorry if this in the wrong place. I've got a Tom Tom One XL and have loaded- Navcore 8.010, the relevant maps etc. on to an SD card. I have also patched everything. It was working perfectly. Now my Tom Tom One XL is no longer working. So if i buy another Tom Tom One XL, the exact same model, can i just put that SD card straight in it and use it? Or will i have to re-patch with the new ttgo.bif file from the new device or whatever its called? Or something else? Or have to re-do everything all over again from scratch? Thank you.

The navcore was an original downloaded directly from tomtom, so it was not patched previously and i had to patch it myself, i thought i'd state that incase it makes any difference.

Yes, you can do that if you've got the navcore & maps loaded onto the SD card but you'll need to remove ttgo.bif otherwise it's possible you could brick the new XL

The new XL will create it's own ttgo.bif on first start up with it's own ID & serial number.

Thank you both so much for your reply and all your help. Just to clarify too, so when i delete the ttgo.bif off the SD card and the new device creates its own on the SD card, will then i have to re-patch the system? sorry if its a silly question.

No you only have to activate the map again. Even if you don,t delete the bif file after starting the device with the SD card in it it makes a new bif file and overwrite the old one.
For you rest of mind delete the old bif file.
