AutoActivate help on go 720

Sat Mar 24, 2012 1:10 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this stuff and i need a little help,
the problem is, that when i copy the autoactivate.exe to my tomtoms root directory and run it everything seems great,
but when i disconnect my tomtom and start it, it's stuck in a rebooting loop, i'm still able to connect it to my computer and restore the previous state so it works, but after autoactivate it just keeps rebooting, never actually starting the thing.

Any help would be of much help,
hope this is the right place to post this,

Thanks in advance.

You have a great device with a TRUCK navcore & a map that is years out of date. What are you trying to do with AutoActivate

1. please use the latest version of AotoActivate or FastActivate
2. check the tutorial section, there is a thread for rebooting problems

AutoActivate should not cause any problem on your device, unless you added a new new map to a working device and delete the old map at the same time.
In this case your TT won't be able to find the selected map.
Best option for that case:
a) delete the file "currentmap.dat" in the root of your device or
b) leave the old map on the device and use the change function in the menu to switch to the new map
Both option will enable you to delete the old map and boot without problems.

Well, what i wanted to do with the autoactivate is to get some voices working that i grabbed form the net as i read somewhere that thats what i'm supposed to do, since by just copying the voices to the voices directory doesn't work and tomtom can't play them, they show up but i get an error message that it's nat a valid voice or smth. And well, i'd like to update the navcore and maps as well when i'd be a little more familiar with autoactivate and updating maps and stuff like that.

To reply to downunder35m: I just copied some new voice files to voices directory and then ran the autoactivate, the program ran without errors but when i unplugged my go720 from my pc it keeps restarting, i have not attempted to install any new maps or anything like that.

Still, thanks for the replies.

1. You can't just patch the voices only. It's an all or nothing process. The navcore & map must also be patched.
2. Based on point 1, You are trying to do it backwards. Upgrade your map & navcore first, then work on voices. Keep in mind that only LoquendoTTS voices can pronounce street names & house numbers. They do not require patching.

Thanks a lot for the replies.

So downloaded a new navcore and a new map and got everything working eventually, even the voices that i initially wanted.

One thing though, as i also downloaded new speedcams. Extracted two files (safety_cam_EE_tomtom.ov2 and safety_cam_EE_tomtomov2.ver) to my new map directory and ran autoactivate. But when i try to set the cams up from the POI menu on my device it does not give me the option, as in the POI menu does not have the cams as a selectable POI.
If i could get that working as well, it would be great.
And just in case i'll add my new config as well:

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 720
DeviceVersionHW=GO 720
BootLoaderVersion=55120
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9401
ApplicationVersion=862279.1
CurrentMap=Russia_Baltics_Finland_885_4008
CurrentMapVersion=885.4008

And thanks for all the hepl so far.

TT speed cams are set up in Main Menu, TomTom Services, Speed cameras.

tendriver
9.401 is the navcore that tthome offers you, I've got it on my 920 and 530 and fastactivate seems to patch it ok.

There are also numerous places to download mod. versions here. There is a purpose for asking SuckerPunch where he got his version.

Got mine from a thread here ("Navcore v9"), think it is a legit version from TT which i then patched with autoactivate. Why is it important? Might there be something wrong still?

I might have a good change for you, but it depends on what thread you used to download.

BTW, you can't patch a navcore with AutoActivate. FastActivate Premium is required to do that.
