best core and map set? TomTom one

Postby mikeataol » Wed Jul 11, 2012 6:01 pm

2 questions, can miopocket run on these? (Im used to Magelllans , not these TT devices)

failing that , which core? (looks like 8.412.1236 would be the appropriate one from the automatic installer page...)

wanted map suggestions before I downloaded a 2gb set and find its a no-go.

thanks in advance (-:

1. No.
2. It depends on which map you need.

All of the 890 full featured maps require navcore 9.000 or above.

well, I dont care about full featured , just a newer navcore and fresher maps would be fine.
he doesnt care or know about iq routing or TTS or anything like that, unit just needs a refresh

(friend who has this TomTom complained about the routing. )

United States 890.4234 [799MB] is the only option in the 890 Edition maps. There are additional options in the 885 Edition.

8.412 is OK since you don't care about Features.

I actually had to end up getting latest suggested navcore from TomTom Home - 7.9 something, I couldnt get any map to work on the 8.412 - kept giving "This map cannot be used on this device" message.
(this is why they call it testing)

but with the official 7, both navcore and map 885.4094 patched perfectly.
(cleared the disk, ran tomtom home updater a few times, installed maps and ran LA premium)

A significant upgrade to his 2006 app/maps.
again thanks for the help

1. The message is telling you that you have a patching issue.
2. Not really. You are running an out of date map & an antique navcore!!!

well, when I had 8.412
the activator was telling me the core was already patched

3 different versions of maps all gave the "this map cannot be used on this device" with the 8.412.1236

tried activator light, premium and auto versions each time

Did you confirm that the maps were compatible with 8.412?
Did you confirm that the 3 different maps were actually patched?
Are you using a SD card or all internal?

you are right, (took longer to reply because I redid the install of 8.412. )

All internal , and first map I tried was the link you gave above (USA only ) "United States 890.4234 [799MB] is the only option in the 890 Edition maps."
"this map cannot be used on this device"

I then tried USA and Canada which matches maps he originally had, and according to chart should work, "USA and Canada 885.4092 [857MB] with auto installer and patcher" which has a meta posted
"Problem with map You cannot use this map on this device: USA_and_Canada-534"

okay, then I ran fa premium, it found the map dct, and told me navcore already patched, and , success !

lol, is he better off now than before? I dont really know how too tell how old the map sets are....

thanks for your help, Im glad you made me give it another go.
