Best Navcore for 540 Live?

Best Navcore for 540 Live?

Postby monstermash » Thu Jul 08, 2010 9:12 am

Hi,

Sorry if this question is answered somewhere and I've missed it.

I have a 540 Live with latest UK 850 maps and Live data. is it possible to run Navcore 9 on it and if so what is the best version to use?

Thanks!!

You can use any Navcore you like but you will most likely loose the Live services.
That is because the X50 devices use a different GPRS module.
Before you try anything make a proper backup using the Windows Explorer-not Home!

Thanks for that.

I installed 9.053 from a file called 9.053.xl2009_live_2048.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab

I also found one called 9.053.xl2009_live_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab. I don't know what difference 2048 or tts makes.

You're right, I have lost the Live services which is a shame. I'm off for a couple of hours driving to test it out.

Cheers.

If you get any problems with 9.053 (i have had a lot of users who have) then i reccomend going to 9.026 ;) this is a good all round navcore and has very little problems on most devices , but if you are running 9.053 fine then keep it ;)

I think the only way to keep the Live services is to keep your origional set up on the internal and update the sd card or vise versa but that would mean when you want to use the live services to take out or put in the sd card (depending on wich way round you install the crackd navcore) ;)

There is very little, if any, difference in the different 9.053 .cabs. There are 10 versions. I'm running the 750/950 version on a 720, with no problem. I don't use Live Services.

Thanks for the advice.

I've been on the road for a couple of hours driving around Devon with my other half.

Everything works just fine except Live of course. The 540 rebooted itself once but the old Navcore did that too.

I'm off up north tomorrow so I think I'll go back to Navcore 8 until my Live subscription runs out then back to Navcore 9.
