Best navcore for my Go720

Postby EthanFBI » Mon Nov 01, 2010 10:18 pm

Hi everybody,

Sorry for my bad english, I'm french Tomtom GO 720 user :D

Here is my Go720 Configuration :

Code: Select all
DeviceName=TomTom GO 720
DeviceVersionHW=GO 720
BootLoaderVersion=55120
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
ApplicationVersion=9982
UserLanguage=Français
CurrentMapVersion=855.2884

I've seen on the forum, I could use navcore version 8.412 for my 720... But in the other part of the forum, somebody say to install version 9.103... So, I don't understand :D

Can you help me ? What is the best navcore for my 720 ? Can you give me the link to download the good cab and the good SE files ?

And another question : To install this navcore, is it correct to say, I just need to copy the content of the cab and the SE file on the root of my device ?

I hope you'll can help me :D

Make a backup of your current setup using Windows Explorer.
Download this navcore: [Please Register or Login to download file] + X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1
Copy in the Navcore & only the SE ttsystem & PNDNavigator files from the rar, overwriting any common navcore files.
If your 855.2884 map has been patched, then DONE!! If not, then download FastActivate ENG 09.10.2010 {1.7} to patch it.

I can assure you that I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYTHING to you, unless I know it is compatible. So, we need to determine what the installation error is. However, you have not given any info that can be used to solve your problem.

Define "doesn't work", s'il vous plait.

Oh, oh wonderful french :D
Sorry, I have to explain the "doesn't word" words : When I install the 9.205 version, there are no images in the menu and when I tap on map to access to the menu, the 720 freezes.

Just a question about installation : I have to start installation erasing all in the root of memory or I can install 9.205 over my 8.351 version ?

Correct me if it's wrong :
- I erase all content of memory
- I copy all content of cab in the root of memory
- I copy the content of X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1

Is it OK or there is a mistake ?

Thanks

You can overwrite or erase does not make much diffrence altho i always reccomend overwriting first,

with 9.205 installed To solve the missing menu icons ect and could be the cause the the freezing if not we will then go a diffrent route ,
  • Download this [Please Register or Login to download file]
  • Change the .xpi to .rar and extract,
  • Add the missing "skin" files to your navcore root, all files with "data" in the filename are to be copied to the root of the device.(This is to prevent the errors with the menu or missing/double icons)

That is correct. If you erase, you lose your personal settings.

I'm not referring to the mapsetting.cfg file. I've been doing this a long time, and have tested 95% of the 8.xxx & 9.xxx navcores without ever erasing any of them. It's your 720, so you do it however you wish.

Au contraire, mon ami. No apology needed. You didn't say anything wrong. BTW, your English is not poor.
