Best Value TomTom? Help and Advice Please

Postby Disco » Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:20 am

right

found this ... [Please Register or Login to download file] (TomTom XL LIVE Satellite Navigation System (UK and ROI Maps) 4.3 inch)

will this allow me to update maps/voices etc..

I know it doesnt come with voice activation and bluebooth, so I have two options

1. settle for this as I dont really need VA or BT
2. look at a TT as above, but with both VA and BT - please recommend?

Be aware that LIVE Services are free for the first year, after which you have to pay to continue using it.

yea TD, I know that, and thats why I'm unsure of which one I should go for

Can I really justify the extra £50per year when we're only gonna be using it 12 times a year? Is it really gonna save £50 of time/effort/fuel etc each year - im not too sure!?

I must not understand what you mean here: 2. look at a TT as above, but with both VA and BT - please recommend?

IMHO even a ONE is enough if you only need a GPS every now and then.
For serious users or users that just want to get most out of their devices the X20/X30 (except the 630) is still the best choice.
Live services are overrated unless you really travel a lot and have to be up to date with traffic and need some online searches too.
A normal USB TMC receiver will take care of the needs that a normal user might get traffic jams.
As I said before everyone has to decide what they need and want.
One other point for our prefered models is that you easily add other software like tomplayer to keep you entertained with some videos while the wfe is shopping;)

sorry TD

i meant, do I just go for a TomTom with Bluetooth and Voice Activation thats easy to update with comedy voices, and stuff like that.

Thats the way im learning at the moment, and would like to pick it up today if anyone can suggest one either from Currys/PcWorld or Argos (last day for £10 Voucher!)

@Downunder35 - thanks for your reply buddy. Anyone TT for around £150 max thats comes with bluetooth, Voice activation (not a major issue), and is easy to update

Cheers

OK Dave,

You keep asking for recommendations. Based on your desired features, Downunder & I have given you our recommendations, which BTW are the same, but you don't seem to be paying attention. You reply with a model nowhere close to our suggestions & ask for a recommendation. We give you the same previous suggestion, and the cycle starts all over again.

I don't know what more we can tell you.

1. I don't know what list you are referring to. We will NEVER make a recommendation that doesn't fit your needs, including the ability to be updated.
2. Our recommendation, which is "A new, if you can find one, or refurb. GO X20 or X30", has not changed since the beginning of this thread.

Don't get me wrong, but this thead has now 3 pages and you still have no idea what you want and need.
If you can't make up your mind just buy whatever you want - I'm out of this conversation!

Where in that list do you see a GO X20 or GO X30?
