copied MobileNavigator & zips folders to internal memory on device.. Maps on a sd card with fast & auto activate.exe's. Run program initially and creates ttnavigator.bif on sd card and in MobileNavigator folder, plug sd card back into pc &run auto activate from the sd card and get a menu where states device name etc and to press a key to continue.press any key & gui states its deleted something in c:\ then closes.
put sd card back in device and still asks for voucher code
Thanks for the quick reply

Is there a *.meta.dct file in the map folder? (* is the map filename)
Fri Jun 24, 2011 10:32 pm
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-264.meta
i have that meta but no meta.dct file

Ive also tried dumping all folders direct to internal memory..running it then copying everything back to pc including the new ttnavigator.bif files then running the auto & fast activate direct from windows with the same results....could it be because of the version of windows im using? Win7 x64?

I've seen this problem before...
Some notes about activation...
You will not be able to activate maps when your device is connected by a USB cable, You must use a card reader, If that's not possible then you can copy the map folder, ttnavigator.bif and the activator to the root of a USB memory key, If that's not available then it does work if you place the files in the root of your hard drive, It won't work in My Documents etc
If for some reason Auto/Fast Activate is still not working on your system, (I use XP BTW), Open your ttnavigator.bif with Notepad, select all text, copy and paste into a PM to me and also include the exact name of your map folder and i'll generate the .meta.dct for you and post it as an attachment here.

Thanks for your help Fatboyfun.. Got it working in the end.. Had to use an XP machine..activator doesnt like win 7 or being run in xp compat mode.
Now just need to sort the occasional out of memory problem and all set..
Thanks once again :)

You should only get the out of memory error once after installation and once after every map upgrade, But if your new map folder has the same name as the old one, it doesn't crash. Also too many voices and poi's causes problems.

I've done all of this on my F350, but every single time it will crash with not enough memory after locking onto the satellite. The only version I can get working is navcore 6; which means I'm stuck with maps from like 2008 (is that right?)

Is it WinCE 5 or 6?

Tomtom Navigator 7 does not work properly on WinCE 6, You can use a script similar to the WinCE4.2 version to get it working but that creates new problems and is not recommended, iGO Primo will work instead, and has many more features like TTS, IQ routes, true 3D graphics etc

I've read similar things, yeah. I guess I was just hoping there was still a chance I could get it to work, especially since it runs fine on a friend's CE 6 based PNA (binatone X350) that I installed it on for them. Also, I'm using iGO atm but it has hit me with a memory error twice now, that caused the whole unit to lock up, i had to drain the battery to force it to restart so I'm a bit wary of using it. I also tried re-installing the stock nav software, but had lost the backups, doh! (if you could send me that I'd be greatful, and I already have the stock maps!). One more thing, what's IQ routes exactly? Heard it mentioned but still not sure what it does.

I only have Turbodog 5 which never worked properly anyway (corrupted files from new, only wanted the hardware anyway lol)
IQ routes is a database of average road speeds across the day, instead of the maximum speed, so you get different routes planned at different times of the day, iGO calls it historical data, but it's the same thing.
About the memory error, go into the WinCE control panel, system applet, and set the memory division slider as far left as it will go, then you will have more RAM available.
