Bootloader 5.5285 the best?

Postby Antigenone » Sat Aug 06, 2016 11:43 am

Hi,

why on some forum the bootloader 5.5285 is considered the best for TomTom One?

Here read that it's better stay on a 5.5022...

Your suggestion and idea?

Thanks

1. We cannot/won't comment on what is said on other forums

2. You never need to touch the bootloader unless:
a. You're having serious boot up problems or...
b. You've got and old device like Go Classic, x00's, x10's, Ones & One XL's that cannot read SDHC cards

Changing bootloaders will not improve the performance of your old device other than the above.
All bootloaders above 5.5022 support SDHC cards but we recommend using 5.5128

We can only guess how many or what level of bootloader you have installed on your device now. If it can read SDHC cards then you should leave it alone before you brick it.

No, I said 5.5128

The difference is that the other bootloaders are meant to be used on newer devices than yours....if you use one of these, it will make no difference on an older device other than being able to use SDHC cards.

If you use 5.5022, 5.5128 or 5.5285 the only advantage you'll get will be the use of SDHC cards...nothing else

At NaviTotal, we recommend using 5.5128 because it is always a stable and reliable upgrade but if you'd rather use 5.5285 then that is up to you BUT:

a. we didn't recommend it
b. regardless of whichever one you use, it will only give you the added ability to use SDHC cards.....nothing else

I've written the same thing 3 times in the hope that you'll understand one of them and move on.

You don,t understand way there is different advice and going on and on about the bootloader.
You never worried about the use of the 0.0001 bootloader ???
So stop bothering and stick to the advice of fredderf and go on with the job (5.5128)
In the beginning, you asked It's a problem that during some test I have update my bootloader to 5.5285?
The answer was simple
NO
From that moment on you did it your own way. So if you already know it better don,t ask anymore.

Thanks very much.

I asked only because before that i register to this forum, on another, people suggest that the best for the One are the 5.5285 and i asked "why?" and they tell me that is the fastest.

But i think that for older version of One... it's important stability.

Thanks for the explain
