I think there is not much possible as all that would go over the extra module for fleet management which connects to the dedicates truck devices.
Maybe it is easier to send a SMS using the phone? ;)

I was hoping you'd be the one to come up with something for me because of all your work on the 8.398 truck navcores.
Any ideas from others would be appreciated.

I never used any online service on the TT, so I had no chance/interest in Buddies, weather and so on.
So all I can offer is some guesswork...
The text must be hardcoded in the Navcore while the individual messages you define should be stored in some file, maybe even inside the mapsettings.cfg.
If you can find the file string the custom messages it might just work by copying this file into the 8.398 - but not sure about it.
All I know from years ago is that in truck I could look at a second touchscreen with box was connected somehow to the 7000.
It showed his actual location, gave new orders from the head office and was used to communicate (send reports back).
Since the Truck NC does not really like any emulation that it is not designed for they are out of question for the problem.
Except from the TT homepage there is not much info on the buddies anyway, seems to be something that is not used too much.
Would like to provide a download for the problem, but this time I'm lost as well :(

OK d/u, thanks for having a dig around for me. Maybe I'll have a look around and see if there IS anything obvious somewhere
