OK so I deleted all the files on the device and copied over the navcore and the ireland maps, I copied the mete.txt holding the new meta data to the device and the activator program I already had which after searching what the keygen4 D did was supposedly the same program albeit perhaps a different version.
It said it had successfully implemented the new maps and I disconnected the device. I turned it on however nothing happened, I saw a picture of a computer with a blue line underneath it, I figured maybe it was trying to locate a sat signal. I took the device outside and turned off and on again, this time it makes the tomtom drums sound. I tried a few times but to no avail, I took it back to the computer and now windows says it's got filesystem errors but it could not locate any. I reformatted the drive as its original fat32 and copied over the new navcore without the maps, I get the same response as above, nothing happens. I had a look in the navcore pack file and it lists several files as .chk so I am wondering if the original device this came from did indeed have a failed files system? Or was this because I used my activator instead of the new keygen 4D?
BTW when you said " put meta.txt on the last line of meta and save." what did you mean? I thought you mean put in the line of code and its description into the last line of a meta file with a long list of countries but I could not find a meta.txt file, perhaps it was lost as a file corruption?

Amongst other things you could've bricked your device because it includes a rogue ttgo.bif file which is a big no no
Secondly, it dosen't have a swap file so even if it had worked you would've had problems running a fully featured map on an old limited RAM model like yours.
It's not easy to give up your free time to help others when they can be very needy, ignore your advice and don't even hit the thumbs up button to say thanks for the post.
Btw, .chk files are a normal part of a TomTom navcore

Buffon44 wrote:So the problem will probably be in Navcore, try downloading it from the forum and try it. Otherwise I have a TomTom ONE arranged for tomorrow and I'll try it, I'll send you an email, if I find a working Navcore I'll send you a link to an email with Navcore+prepared keygen with meta.txt

Clearly new to this tech, what is this file and the significance of this please?
Can I implement one or copy it from my (assuming it has one) existing navcore?
I may have forgotten the like button however if you read page one I said the word thanks at least four times to Buffon.
Device is running normally on old software again.
newtogps2019 wrote:if this doesn't work would I be better off with a TomTom One XL V2? These are going very cheap on eBay and I am under the impression from what I've been reading it's more popular and this might be why it was added to a second edition to a 2019 navcore 9.541.1

Run FastActivate and select option 2 to activate the map and speedcams...disconnect and test.

OK so I copied it all to device, disconnected from pc, it turned off and turned itself back on, i see the same bluebar at the bottom of the screen with HDD symbol and tomtom screen picture. Gave it a few minutes waiting for any error message, nothing came, turned it off then back on again same thing, yellow ribbon goes across the screen then it's blue bar. No new ttgo.bif file created.
Ran activator out of curiosity I get this:
** File TTGO.BIF or TTNAVIGATOR.BIF not found **
1. Check if your TomTom Device/SD-Card is Plugged in.
2. Make sure the file TTGO.BIF or TTNAVIGATOR.BIF
is present in the root of your TomTom Drive
3. Start TomTom once to create a new TTGO.BIF or TTNAVIGATOR.BIF

fredderf wrote:It's as I suspected in the first place, one of those weird devices that TT had problems with and will only run with navcore 8.041...but as a last try, copy your ttgo.bif from your backup to the device and try again. If that doesn't work I would give up as you're wasting your time. Keep the file you downloaded from me as it would be fine to use on an XL if you decide to buy one on eBay.

Before I spend money, should this work on any TomTom One XL? I remember seeing a list of items the new version should work on, is there anything I need to pay special attention on i.e. like my satnav had PE in the serial number? TIA
