The USB socket of my 520 has come adrift so I bought a cheap Binatone G430 (£35 from Argos eBay - Refurbished)
Can I get Tomtom working on it?
Thanks

If it's WinCE 5 then yes
If it's WinCE 6 then no
It's written on the box, and the startup sound is different between WinCE versions
"Dong-Ding" = WinCE 5
"Four note melody" = WinCE 6

It's running Win CE 6.0.
Is it really a dead end?

For a properly working version of Tomtom yes, However all is not lost, iGO Primo 1.2 will work.

Looks nice, and hopefully a lot better than the stuff that's on there at present.
Is 1.2 the latest version that will work, I see there is a 2.0 available, will that work, and is it better?

An A-Z of the moon will be better than what's originally installed.
Version 2.0 is not available to us yet, 1.2 is the latest and is what i'm using.
Have a look around the iGO sub-forum and let us know how you want to proceed...

LOL - Nice one
I'll check it out. I'll want to proceed by getting it onto my device. Hopefully I'll manage it using the info already there.
I'll probably try and get iGo8 onto my HTC Desire HD too.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, but the version of Primo linked to within it is an old one, You want a version of Primo 1.2 that supports 480x272
