Cannot Use this map: Western Europe_1GB - TomTom ONE XL

Postby Razorblatter » Mon May 20, 2013 1:49 pm

You don't NEED to install a NavCore.
(The NavCore by the way is the internal software of the TT device)

I do suppose you want a current map. 910 is latest. 850 dates back to Jun-2010.

You need to read and follow up the instructions carefully and - in case of questions - supply the moderators with the info they need to give you advice. Check the GET MY CONFIG message by downunder!

Oh okay, well here's the information.
I'm now downloading the map Europe_1GB_West_910_4952 [780MB]
But now I finished downloading part 1, it makes me wait for 30 minutes.. This is taking forever.

If you want it faster, there is an easy way to get it: Buy it !
Or become premium member with the download guys.

If you want it free, bite the bullet and just wait till the map is complete.

The advantages of installing a newer NC from downunder is that you can install maps with more features like ALG.
But in that case you would need to download another bigger map.

These 2 lines tell us that either there is no map on your ONE or there is an unpatched map on your device.
When you have completed downloading your new map, put FastActivate 17.05.2013 & a copy of your ONE's ttgo.bif file in the new map folder. Run FA to patch this map.

I finally finished downloading the map. Now, I put FastActivate in and the ttgo.bif in the map folder.
At the map thread it gave me a meta code, but how to use it is unclear to me. Am I supposed to copy the name and make a new txt file or what? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: and what part should I use?
It says: Europe_1GB_West v910.4952
AE 70 28 1A D8 E8 C0 5A 24 94 83 A1 F0 BF E0 48 Europe_1GB_West-788.meta
So only the bottom one, or also the europe + version part?

EDIT2: So what I did is I made a textfile called meta.txt and I copied this in it:

Europe_1GB_West v910.4952
AE 70 28 1A D8 E8 C0 5A 24 94 83 A1 F0 BF E0 48 Europe_1GB_West-788.meta

Now I runned FastActivate, but when I restart my TT it gives the same error, but then it says Europe_1GB_West

You can put in a meta.text file. It is only necessary if it has not yet been included in the FA program.
You can look into the archive for the exact form. I don't know how much it matters. But it should always work with a correct meta code.

So I updated my last post, but you might have missed it, so I quoted it.
I made the meta.txt file, started FastActivate, clicked option 1 to 4 (in that order) and restarted my TT after disconnecting it. It gives me the exact same error as with the other map. Please help.

EDIT: would you recommend me to do a total cleanup of my TT and then install the map? If so, which files should I delete? Am I supposed to delete everything?

No, don't delete anything.
You are close to the end.
You should get a .meta.dct file in your map folder. But only if the patch works.. What does the FA tell you when trying to patch the map?

Gat your meta code in the same format as in the archive.
Put FA and meta.txt file (NOT meta.txt.txt - mind hidden extensions) in map folder and run it.

I have a .dct file in the folder, it is called Europe_1GB_West-788.meta.dct
When I try to patch the map (option 2 in FA), it says this:

Voice(s):
Comple Maps(s):
Europe_1GB_West-788.meta => .dct OK
Incomplete Map(s):
Fuel prices:
Speed cameras:

I did a reset, but it still gives the same error :(
I thought this would happen, because with the old map, it also said the map was patches, but it still doesnt work..
So now what?

You have to copy the code as shown in the postings - for yours it seems you missed some characters at the start ;)

1. Perfect!
2. Normally you don't use it. It is merely to tell members that there is a meta code for the map & it is usable. Normal procedure, when using FastActivate, is to open it, select option 1 to update the meta.txt. Check the updated meta.txt file to confirm that the meta for your map is included. If included, run FA to patch the map. If it is not included, then now you create a meta.txt file by copying the meta code into a txt file & title it "meta.txt". Copy this created file to the same location as the FastActivate.exe file.
3. Same answer as point 2.
4. Same answer as point 1.
5. Please explain.

Not quite correct. A created meta.txt is only necessary, IF the needed meta code is available, but is not in the FastActivate intergrated meta.txt or the FastActivate updated meta.txt, created by using FA option 1.

1. When you clicked option 1, you killed the meta.txt that you created.
2. NO.
