So here is where I am:
I've updated the navcore by downloading SE_Navcore.9.026.483454.Basicpack, extracting, and putting on device.
Also downloaded, extracted and put SE_ttsystem.9.026.483454 on device.

I've downloaded and put United_States_1GB_890_4234 on the device.

I run FA 1.8.8.9 and it tells me the nc is already patched (which makes sense b/c it was a pre-patched download), but does NOT find the maps and doesn't patch them.

It seems that the nc is loaded correctly - device boots. But then i get the dreaded msg "This map cannot be used on this device United_States_1GB-571".

Any ideas? I'm chasing my tail on this...

Your map is not patched. Confirm you are running FA 1.8.8.9 from the root of your device.

Confirmed. What I finally did to get this working was to get a different version of the 890.4234 map pack ("United States 890.4234" It is 799mb like the one labeld 1GB". I did not use the auto-installer this time, either - I just extracted and copied manually. This time, FA saw the maps and patched it right away.

Not sure what I was doing wrong the first time....

Just wanted to update this ticket for posterity and completion.

Huge thanks to tendriver for all your help! You have got to be the most patient mod in existence.
