SD Card Map issue with GO 740 Live

Postby GeorgeBush » Thu Dec 08, 2022 9:41 am

First post. Been lurking around here for info and tools ever since the TT ONE I owned was new. Now have an issue with a Go 740 Live I received as a gift after my 5100 was stolen. It hadn't been used since 2018 and the map on it was not working/activated. So I did a factory reset; removed all files from internal memory, did a clearflash, rebuild Navcore with Universal Navcore Installer, downloaded Benelux 1100.11649 map here, put extracted map on the internal mem, ran Fastactivate to patch Navcore and map -> all good and working fine.
Now I'm trying to get Western Europe 1100.11648 working on a 8GB SD card (yes: its FAT32)-> put map on SD card added ttgo.bif + Fastactivate, ran it -> all ok .dct is there etc., soft reset TT, but only the active Benelux map on the internal mem is found when I look in the Select/Change map When I connect to my Win10 pc can access the SD Card so the TT cardslot and SD card are both ok. Used another (Kingston) 8GB SD card with the same results.. Any help/suggestions welcome, info as per below:

Have you done this procedure

Download the latest FastActivate
1. Update Meta.txt (after that don't quit the program)
2. Patch Map
3. Done - quit FastActivate
---
If you want the activate another map after you have quit the program use the following procedure:
1. Update Meta.txt
2. Patch Maps
3. Done - quit FastActivate

So always update the meta.txt again after quitting FastActivate

Thanks for your reply and assistance. Yes did exact process as above previously. Fastactivate activated the map -> .dct OK etc. soft rebooted TT and only the Benelux map on the internal memory is available.. :013:

For the sake of testing, I copied the Benelux map from the internal memory to the SD card. Ran Fastactivate again (1 & 2) again, both maps there -> .dct OK, reboot; only Benelux map on internal memory shows..

Copy ttgo.bif from the internal drive to the root of the SD card and try again...

Hello Fredderf, thanks for replying and assistance. Already did that without result. I've followed the tips and tutorials exactly as they have been written down here, and they are - at least for me - foolproof. For sake of learning I will start from scratch hard reset and rebuild the Navcore and maps and report back - tomorrow.

Some additional info: the SD card is 'seen' by the TT under Windows as both icons flash on the 'çonnected to PC' screen when accessed by Windows while copying a map or by Fastactivate. Also the SD card is seen in the Black 'recovery mode' info screen. HOWEVER when rebooting form shutdown (not from sleep mode) only the internal memory (blue) icon is shown flashing on the boot-up screen... Strange..

I would reformat the SD card...in FAT32

My personal preference is to ignore the internal memory and put the whole thing on the SD card...the device will default to use the SD if setup this way. You can copy anything over from the internal memory if it is not included by default like voices etc

Use the official navcore from TomTom below:

Quick update: sdcard was the showstopper, dug up another one (Kingston 8GB) and that worked! So what to learn from this? Even though a sdcard is seen by Windows and Fastactivate can patch the map on it, it doesn't mean it works when the system/navcore has to access it..
