Even if you copy a new card on the original SD you can't activate it as the activation is bound to the SD CID and not the device ID.
That's sounding just like the old v7 maps bought on TT SD cards. The cards themselves were, indeed, encoded and an .mct rather than a .dct was created once plugged in (to any device) abd these, too, could not be copied to spare SD cards

Hello,
I've been following the 9.844 navcore subject this last month since I bought my Mégane III.
I stupidly updated the map on Tomtom Home to version 875 and after that I noticed that I'm stuck with navcore version 9.844.
Downunder35m, I will PM you with the files of Portugal map version later this day.
I have one question that isn't directly related with this thread: If I manage to update my navcore to patched 9.844 version, am I then also able to use tomplayer on my Carminat Tomtom Live?
Thanks
Keep up the good work.

Don't know about tomplayer on the Carminat, you have to test it.
But I might have news for the SD cards. It seems that normal SD cards (no SDHC!) can work with a copy of a geniune map from a different car.
Won't work with SDHC and only on certain SD's, seems the 4GB SD cards are different to the 2GB ones and the SDHC version.
Might be a bug or a loophole that TT forgot about.

Hello Downunder35m,
As I promised, I've sent you the files.
Didn't found a *.mct file though... Only a *.dct which I added.

I managed to make a working copy of my original SD card using Tomtom Home's backup option.
The SD card is a 2Gb non SDHC.
I also tried to update the navcore with Downunder35m's patched version. Carminat seemed to restart 3 times with the Hourglass and Renault/tomtom image. After that it started normally. I checked system version and noticed that all version numbers haven't changed any digit. So I can't confirm if the update was successful or not.
Tomplayer isn't starting after update attempt with patched version. Same as before.

If you had the same NC version installed before you won't see any difference as it just patched - but maybe, only maybe that is the reason why your copy works.
So to further confirm that I would like to ask other user to repeat your steps, which would require you post them exactly so that any other Carminat Live user can follow your steps.
Can you please check the .mct file in both map folders if there is any difference in the file? I'm asking to rule out that Home writes a new MCT file.
Also if possible the user should try it first with his original Navcore and if possible with different SD cards.
If the copy of the SD card won't work than try to used the patched NC I posted with the copy of the SD - if it is not working unpatched but works with the patched Navcore,
we eliminated another problem.
But generally it is good to finally have confirmation that a copy can work, we just need to find out why it only works for a few users and not for all.

The copy of the SD origin does not work with all the SD cards.

@stbi : if you post content from other forums at least leave a note with the credites instead of posting links to other forums.

Sorry I'm French and my English is very bad

Hello Downunder35m,
I haven't noticed any differences between both *.dct files. As I said earlier I don't have mct file on my map, only dct.
To get a working copy I used an 2 Gb SD card that I already had and formatted it to FAT.
I've then inserted it on my Carminat, turned it on and waited until the "no map" message on the GPS.
I removed the SD card after turning off the Carminat, inserted the SD card on my computer (tomtom home pops up - I guess Carminat installed something on the SD card) and TTHome gives me the screen saying there is an update: Iberia map version 875 (the same that's on my original SD card).
I canceled the update and restored the original content from an earlier backup.
After the complete restoration, I inserted the SD card on my Carminat and it worked flawlessly. I´ve made this before applying the patched update, so it has to work for everyone.
I've also noticed that TTHome locks the device ID to the registered user.
I´m using a "silicon power" branded SD card.
Best Regards

Hello, doing a copy from sdcard to an another sdcard, works fine with the same map !
But install a new map not download officially on tthome doesn't works!
When download an official map, tthome maybe install a file on sdcard to copy this file on internal memory of carminat to declare the map !
The best must be to have the copy of sdcard with update with an official map before to introduce it in carminat to see the differents files !!!!!!!!!!!

I have an original SD carminat map of Europe 855.2885 that was not activate in the 60 days and no recognize by TT home for the mapshare, and I made a Backup on computer; I have a new SDHC 4Go on wihch I put a new France map I buy on TT official site 880.3865, now after a backup I want to put the two map Europe an France on the 2 SD card and after a recover on the original SD the two map work fine but on new SD card only the France map work and for Europe (from original SD) no Work I have a message this Map dont work or not autorized on this Car. So I think there is a part of the TT program in the memory of Carminat TT live in the car because it's possible to see that there is 128MO of memory and about 78 used

So I have a question how it's possible to see and copy that was in memory of TT in the Car, is there an program on SD card was able to make a backup or a copy of the internal memory of the TT in the car, or with the USB cable betwen USB plug of the audio system and a computer or PDA ?
That the questions I have.
Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:41 pm
Not possible to acces the internal memory.
If the EU map was not recognised by Home that there is something wrong with it.
Is theEU map working on the original SD?
Did you use the new SD to download the map from TT?
Was this SD in the Carminat before or completely empty for the map download?
