Hi everyone, I've had great success with the maps from here on my Carminat, versions 885, 995, and 1000 worked great for me. However, now that I tried to upgrade to 1005, I followed the same procedure, I got the Europe_1005_8766 map, extracted it into a directory called “Europe” on the SD card, and generated a DCT with FastActivate. The problem is that when I try to start the navigation, it just bootloops – it shows the hourglass, with the loading bar at the bottom, that fills up, and then the screen goes black for about 20 seconds, before the process repeats.

If I name the directory of the map anything other than “Europe”, it boots up, the map loads fine, but it does not remember my home address, any of my favorites, or any recent destinations.

When I restore a backup of 1000, everything works fine again.

Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong, and how to make it work again?

And if you remove the file
mapsettings.cfg
from the map what happend then.
Is it still rebooting ?

So I did more digging. On the carminat, there is no mapsettings.cfg in the map directory itself, instead, it writes them into a small ext3 filesystem image in loopdir/loopback.ex3. And it's written separately for each map name. And yes, when I removed the “Europe/MapSettings.cfg” in that filesystem, it boots again, but, obviously, I have lost all my favorites.

Is there a way to recover the old favorites that it refuses to load with the new map version, other than re-entering all of them manually?

So far I know not.
