I'm not 100% sure as I don't have a device to test, so I can not confirm if any of that is working - only a user with a Carminat Live can.
The downgrade if at all can only be done using the correct NC, meaning a Craminat for that and a Carminat Live for the other model.
They both use similar but very different ways to handle files and the patching.
And again: even if the downgrade is working fine (which it should since TT posted it), you still nedd a patched Navcore to use other maps.
The way of using the ttsystem in the example or the .ib of a cab is nothing more that what the device would do AFTER Home copied the files onto the SD.
If you check the official cab you'll notice that only the BMP is missing.
TT basically did what we already tried with older versions of the NC, but they posted it after our fix ;)
There is one way that was not tested yet:
Unpacking the whole Cab correctly and to put all Navcore files directly onto the SD including a map.
One could check the loopback for strukture and prepare the files accordingly.
In theory the device should accept both types of ttsystem, the one to install and the normal one of the NC directly.
Question remains if the theory is working.
Since a working NC in the internal is always used unless a newer NC is present on SD (and that would be installed first) testing that might not be as easy.

I created the Carminat threads to raise awareness and to get users together to work on a possible solution.
No mod I know own a Carminat so only users can help themselfs while we try to give useful advise.
I have seen people modifying NC's in ways never seen before, like Dark Mireille or some Linux freaks that helped making swap files available for NC9 - so it is possible to do something.
Everyone with a bit of Linux know how is able to take the installation files apart.
The actual file running the NC "program" can be patched using the good old tools by TTUSER.
Maybe it is worth to ask some friend (of the kids?) that know Linux to help out, no idea.

You have to "take the cab apart", get to the actual files of the Navcore.
Once done you can patch it and put it back together as it was.
Without the right tools and knowledge behind you won't succeed unless you spend endless hours on it.

Hi igoivo, i put a copy of a virgin SD in a new device, but it doesn't work. I also changed the VolumeID but the result is the same.

Hi, bluedeep. VolumeID may not be enough since ttgo.big contains the info about
SDCardID = 32 digits. What I meant is to try to use the original SD with
the restored original content (as it would be before using SD card).

I tried to play with the map folder only, but found that some files are missing, the map info, for instance. Can you, please, upload the full image of the original SD card ?
Note, that the loopdir may contain the private information - you could upload it separately.

You can upload all but loopdir folder - it's safe. Just one France folder is not enough.

Hello,
I try this :
1. New SD
2. Download map in this thread with ID
3. Changing ID of SD with volumeid
4. Folder Europe in the new SD
5. Only one folder in the SD : EUROPE
6. Insert SD in tomtom carminat Live
7. Result : Not work.
8. SD in PC. A new folder has been created : Loopdir

What I don't make correctly?

thanks for your answer

There is at least one more map related file "release.nfo" in \TomTom-Cfg folder. And it must be something in the "ext3_loopback" file - for example, the map info (coverage, poi, etc -- look in your *.tlv file in \maps folder)
It would be nice to make a pure experiment:
1) Take the original SD card
2) Put on the card all original content
3) Try to install it in new Carminat Live navigator (the navigator must not have the same map).
Will the map be accepted by Carminat Live?
But, to this end one need either new car :) or the original SD with the original content (it's possible).
PS: anyway, I am pretty sure, that TomTom Home will not be able to register such map properly in the TomTom database (since it is registered already). Thus, *.dct file will not be generated.

Between the "release info" of my original 8.55 and my update 8.80, there is no differences.
-----------------
[ID]
LocalID = ['beaumont', 'marigot']-None.None-7ME0.010.05.2.NFA_2.0_Data_France_v4.SD
imageID = France-855.2938

Birthday = Wednesday 22 September 2010, 15:27:08
Image type = SD 2GB
Item number = 7ME0.010.05.2
Item description = NFA 2.0 Data France v4
Changelist = 578910
Map 1 name = France
Map 1 version = 855
Map 1 build = 2938
Map 2 name = French_Antilles
Map 2 version = 855
Map 2 build = 2883
Map 3 name = Indian_Ocean
Map 3 version = 855
Map 3 build = 2883
-------------------------------------
It's totally the same file.

In the beginning, i try to copy all original card (2gb) on a new card(4gb), and put the new in the carminat. and it works.
SD different but original files = it works

Hi, bebe1310
1) OK, I did the same, actually :) The question is will it work for the second time?
In my case it did not work (I tried recently my original SD with all original content) -
I suspect because I have an updated map of the same region and it's registered in the navigator internal memory, but I can be wrong.
2) Some initial installations can be wrong because we did not use the original SD in the first time.
In my case it is empty installation section in the system info. TT support has informed me that, due to that error, I have working TTS voices in my navigator (but none of them is available in TTHome)
Actually, any TTS voice from Android version works to me "as it is", without any registration.
Does it the same in your case?
