Hi,

It's impossible even to clone our own SD Card after the first use, specially if you are using Navcore 9.8xx, and even if you've changed the Volume ID. It's stupid this matter we are trying.

There is something else we are missing...

Bye.

For everyone still running the 9.844 or that simply want to try:
Hidden text: ON
[Please Register or Login to download file]

I don't know if the install of a Carminat NC still works if the 9.845 is already installed, but I don't expect too much anyway.
Did use different tools and methods to extract the file that corresponds to the PNDNavigator on normal TT's but I think the Hash-test won't allow the installation.
Updated a SD backup that was provided and used the ttsystem files that was created on the SD - so I did what I could to get the correct files and to make sure it fits together.
Keep in mind that you need to extract several images to get to the file.
Just getting the stuff sorted using Windows is a pain and without a device to test pretty much useless trails anyway ;)
To get the thing on your Carminat:
Download the archive and unpack the ttsystem to the root of your Carminat SD - not the original SD, a backup!!

I don't know what changed in the filesystem but I do know that a 9.844 SD can be copied with no problems at all.
Just the fact that the map on such a SD won't work still stands.
But I had two SD backups from a CL now and no map data was included, only the user stuff like mapsettings.cfg and the speedcams - no actual map, as I think the map is only the internal memory after installation.

Hi, Downunder35m
To clarify:
1) The Carminat Live navigator does not work if the map is removed from the SD card. It means, that the map is not copied into the internal memory. The same is for any vocal voice.
2) The voice works if five voice files (which includes *tlv) are copied into any SD card.

Believe me. I've tried almost everything to clone my original SD with Navcore 9.844. Copy/paste, Winimage, USBit, all kind of map activators, Kingston SD 2Gb "standard", Kingston SD 4GB SDHC (I've read some devices won't support SDHC), etc. Everything failed. I'm pretty sure that it's not related to the SD card software/files/sectors because the USBit makes a full copy sector by sector, and not file by file.

I'm thinking on trying your 9.845 patched. Is it safe? I hope I won't damage my Carminat. I may lost my guarantee.

Thanks.

Well, all I know is that I got SD images from the 9.844 that I work with, since I have nothing to actually update I can't try anything with the 9.845 :(
The update is save either way you look at it:
a) if the stuff is protected by hash codes or more the installl will simply fail and the device ignores the big ttsystem file entirely
b) in case it would work as expected the NC will be installed as usual resulting in a patched Navcore on the device - you can see when you turn off as the usual shut down screen was removed
Could not include a proper startup image as the NC uses a BMP for every single Renault on the market (at least it seems so by the amount).

And maybe if all this works it could be enough to include a full map in the loopback where the user files for map are located. After all, there is a map folder on the SD but only with the files that are created after the setup, not any actual map file.
I can't get my hands on any original, fresh and unused Carminat SD to test, so I have to take whatever is offered by users and trust what they tell me is possible or not.

This is my frist post here. I want to thank Downunder35m and other people for all the work and time they put in this project.

I have tried to install the patch from post #93. The only thing is that I already had installed 9.845 accidently. I was used to create the dct files with an older TomTom so I thought it would work on my Carminat Live too. After I updated my Carminat and found out the card did not work I started reading here.

Steps I did:

1. Formatted a new 4GB SD card.
2. Copied a backup from my original Tomtom SD card to it(9844) with Windows explorer.
3. Deleted the loopdir directory
4. Copied patched ttsystem to SD card.
5. Copied patched ttsystem to SD card as ttsystem.ib
6. I put the SD card to lock (readonly), so when I insert it in the car, Carminat can not write files to it.

7. Start the car, with the new SD card.
8. The hourglass shows up.
9. After +/- seconds stop the car and open the door (this will power off the Carminat while busy reading update/starting up).
10. Start the car again.
11. The hourglass shows up, it takes a little longer and after that I see the option to install 9845. The current installed version is also 9845.
12. Click on right-down buttom to start the installation.
13. Installalion starting and finishing normally.
14. After reboot Carminat says I can not use this map and shows a screen to select an other map.

So it looks like the patched version is installed but it does not work for now.

Things I tried after installation but don't make a difference (with lock disabled so Carminat can write to SD):
- changed volumeId to the original SD card.
- run factactivate to create dct files.
- deleted mct files.

Do I need to do anything else? The map I am using is Benelux v880 (Benelux-479).

I need to do the open door trick otherwise I do not get the installation screen.

On the new SD card is also a loopback dir with a file loopback.ex3. Is it possible to check that file so we can find out if the patched version is really installed on the Carminat?

1. Why? You should not format flash memory unless there is no other option...
2. Why?
3. ?
4. Ok
5. Why????
6. Why????
7. First normal decision
8.- 14 ....

I can't see any of the stuff you did in my instructions.
All you created was one big mess, except for the backup.
Is it possible to check that file so we can find out if the patched version is really installed on the Carminat?
Was already explained long time ago...

Go to tomtom.com or use Home to buy the map you need, that is your only option to get a new map.

I've been several times to make a copy of a card with NavCore 9842 but unfortunately never worked.

How can it be that Minton has a working copy? :7:

Here is de new Navcore 9.845 renault tomtom live with a ttsystem file.
Who can patch it?

If you would have read a bit in the thread:
Only SD cards with a .mct file for activation can be copied, no new maps added, no patching possible.
Or to be precise: patching is no problem at all but you can not install the patched Navcore on your device.

so i did quite a lot of reading on this.
If I understand correctly, the one way to mapshare when using TT live latest version:
1. Buy an official Europe map on SD.
2. Make a full low-level backup of SD.
3. Activate maps on carminat
4. Copy SD card contents to another SD card and keep using that
5. restore SD to original state
6. pass SD on and repeat steps 3-5

Its not the best share ever, but I have a colleague with a Carminat TT live as well, so this effectively a 50% off for me...
