Carminat TomTom 8842 Greek Language

Postby ethos » Wed Jun 27, 2018 5:48 pm

Hi to all the member here! I've been struggling a couple of days now with my gps in my used car i bought recently which was imported from italy. I'am from greece and when i bought it, the gps was in italian with italian maps only. I've managed to change the navcore to 8842 and patch it using fastactive following your guidance here in the forum but the menu and the map names are all in english. There is no option in language menu for greek apparently and i wanted to ask here the pro's whom might have struggled as i am now.. is there any possible way to change the map street names to unicode greek letters and the menu too? Thanks in advance.

Is it not possible to use Navcore 9.510 ?
All setting and voices are in Greek .
Is your device 32 or 64 mb ?

I'm not sure if a TomTom Navcore will work on a Carminat
But when you make a full copy first, your're always able to go back

Mind you mailbox, please.

I mean your mailbox at this forum
But I've my doubts if it's usufull for your device.
The original Navcore I found for Carminat is version 8.841 and 8.842
I'll send you some examples

You can only use navcore 8.841 and 8.842.
With a higher navcore (i.e.) it is impossible to activate the map.

@holyhead
Do you have any idea what this is 9.844.634510.Carminat_Tomtom.cab ?
It's the original from the TT server and contain only these two files
splashw.bmp
ttsystem.ib
I was wondering if it's possibly an update for an elder Navcore ?

I don,t know but I suppose if you copy the ttsystem.ib tot the 8.842 navcore you have the 9.844 Live.
The problem is that till know it is only possible to active a map with navcore 8.842.

That was my first thought too.
But I don't see the relationship between Navcore and map when a patch is needed
I suppose the patching is totaly different in compare with a normal TomTom map ?
Nevermind, we're near the end of all our elder devices, maybe it's time to switch over to a totaly other system
